Gracie Hunt Gives a Shoutout to Her Favorite Soccer Team

As an adult — and Chiefs heiress — Hunt is a proud supporter of the NWSL’s Kansas City Current, co-owned by Brittany and Patrick Mahomes. The Current defeated the Houston Dash 2-0 on Sunday night, April 20.

The first goal came in the first half from captain and midfielder Lo’eau LaBonta, who scored on a penalty kick to give Kansas City the lead at halftime. In the second half, defender Kayla Sharples added another goal, locking in the win. The victory put the Current at the top of the NWSL standings.

Hunt celebrated by posting “What a win!” along with a video of fireworks from the sidelines. She also met Sharples after the game, congratulating her with flowers. Hunt shared a video of Sharples’ goal with the caption “Slay,” and later posted behind-the-scenes footage from Kayla’s postgame interview.

“Soccer was my first love,” she told PEOPLE in 2021. “I wanted to play in college. I won the championship when I was in high school with my high school team, and played club, as well.”

“After suffering four concussions, that was a dream that I could no longer pursue, which is really hard when you work your entire life to be good at something,” she continued. “I had to find a new dream.”

Clark Hunt’s daughter has also shared how soccer helped her bond with her dad.

“Soccer helped build my relationship with my dad. He was my first coach when I was little, and those are sweet memories I’ll always cherish,” she told Maxim in 2023. These days, Hunt has taken up distance running as another way to stay active. She picked it up as a hobby after hanging up her pageant sashes.

According to her website, she “completed two full marathons and two half marathons in 2022.”

On Sunday, Hunt was living her soccer dream — even if she wasn’t out on the field.
