Chiefs vs. Chargers Week 1 Preview

Brazil knows how to put on a show. Last season, São Paulo hosted the Green Bay Packers and Philadelphia Eagles, two teams with Super Bowl buzz. Another massive matchup is set for Week 1, as the Kansas City Chiefs face the Los Angeles Chargers in the international season opener.

Kansas City might not be racking up points like in years past, but the team’s grip on the AFC West is still tight. The Chiefs have stacked up seven straight 10-win seasons and nine years running as AFC West champs. Heading into 2025, the question everyone is asking: does the streak finally end?

That’s where Los Angeles comes in. The Chargers’ first year under Jim Harbaugh saw a jump of six wins, and both games with the Chiefs were battles. Despite dealing with a shaky run game, a new system, and a rookie No. 1 receiver, Justin Herbert was rated No. 12 among quarterbacks by PFSN last year.

That situation has changed, and with both teams looking to reach the playoffs, this Week 1 game in Brazil might set the tone for the AFC West race.
