The Jacksonville Jaguars made headlines early when they struck a deal with the Cleveland Browns to secure the No. 2 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. The Jaguars would go on to select the 2024-25 Heisman Trophy winner, Travis Hunter, out of the University of Colorado. However, Jacksonville had to pay a hefty price to move up three spots to land the cornerback and wide receiver.
Jaguars General Manager James Gladstone explains Move Up for Travis Hunter
“There are players that you can target and acquire who can alter the trajectory of a game,” Gladstone said after the Jaguars selected Hunter on Night 1. “There are players that you can target and acquire who can alter the trajectory of a football team. There are very few — and it’s rare — to target and prioritize a player who can alter the sport itself. Travis is somebody that we think has the potential to do that.”
Hunter is fully embracing this moment with calm confidence, eager to demonstrate why he deserves the hype after being drafted second overall by the Jaguars.
“There’s no pressure for me,” Hunter said. “I just have to go out there and do my job, be Travis Hunter. They did everything they could to come get me. Now, I’ve got to do everything I could to help win and help the organization.”
With the fifth pick, the Browns took defensive tackle Mason Graham out of the University of Michigan. They also received a second-round pick (No. 36 overall), a fourth-rounder (No. 126 overall), and Jacksonville’s 2026 first-round selection.
Jacksonville also acquired Cleveland’s fourth-round selection (No. 104 overall) and a sixth-round pick (No. 200 overall) in the deal.
Hunter’s Chef Reacts to Him Headed to Jacksonville
Chef Hoppie, who is recognized for providing heartwarming meals to elite athletes, expressed his enthusiasm about Hunter being chosen No. 2 overall by the Jaguars. Hoppie shared his thoughts on the surprising twist in the draft as someone who has observed Hunter’s growth on and off the field. The star cornerback and wide receiver is bound to crave comfort food now that he’s returned to his hometown.
“Travis going number two isn’t a surprise, but the fashion that it happened in was the shocker for me!” said Hoppie.
“He’s going to love being back home in Florida, with all the fishing! I know he’s going to find a way to eat his favorite meal — pancakes & bacon with cheese, eggs, every chance he gets!”
Hoppie had the opportunity to get Hunter right during the pre-draft.
“Congrats to my dawg Trav! Thank you for the opportunity, @ym_boog32, to get @travishuntershow right during Pre-Draft! Just getting started, show the world dawg! 🔥🔥🔥 DUUUVAAALLL !”

Chef Hoppie is sure that Hunter will bring the same passion and energy to Jacksonville that he has demonstrated throughout his journey as he prepares to make his mark in the NFL.
Hunter has a strong foundation for success both on and off the field, thanks to his family, fans, and familiar flavors upon returning home. He’s prepared to represent Duval with pride, whether it’s by locking down receivers or recharging with his go-to meals.
