Chase Daniel played in the NFL for well over a decade despite going undrafted in the 2009 NFL Draft. He had one of the most successful backup quarterback careers of all time, which includes a Super Bowl ring. Now in retirement, the former Chiefs quarterback is celebrating a key milestone: his 11th wedding anniversary with wife Hillary.
Hillary has been with Daniel through thick and thin right from his college career at the University of Missouri. As they reached their 11th year of married life, the former quarterback penned a heartfelt note for the mother of his three children.
Daniel Still in Awe of Wife Hillary After 11 Years of Marriage
Daniel and Hillary met at Missouri and became friends in 2007. However, their relationship hit a bump when Daniel went to the NFL and signed an undrafted free agent contract with the New Orleans Saints. Fate had other plans, and they got back in touch in April 2011 after being reintroduced to each other.
It didn’t take them much time to start dating, but the distance meant managing a long-distance relationship through many Skype calls and plane trips. Daniel’s career took him from New Orleans to Kansas City, where he signed with the Chiefs in 2013. The move brought him closer to Hillary, and it took him no time to get down on one knee.
“Chase proposed on February 7, 2014, on a weekend trip from Dallas to Kansas City,” the couple wrote. “The best surprise came after the proposal where he secretly arranged for both sides of the family to travel in for a celebration dinner!”
11 years married, and I still look at you with the same awe I did on day one. You’re my whole heart and the best part of every day. I’m so thankful for the life we’ve built together. pic.twitter.com/F4o2dw0SLf

They eventually tied the knot on July 6 of that year and are still going strong after 11 years and three kids. Daniel’s social media post shows just how much his wife still means to him after more than a decade together.
“11 years married, and I still look at you with the same awe I did on day one. You’re my whole heart and the best part of every day. I’m so thankful for the life we’ve built together,” Daniel wrote.

The couple shares two daughters and a son named Preston, who’s the eldest of three. Daniel often shares family moments on social media, showing how much his role as a father means to him after stepping away from professional football.
Looking Back at Daniel’s Stint With the Chiefs
Daniel signed with the Chiefs in 2013 and was brought in as the backup for Alex Smith. However, he didn’t get much playing time in Kansas City during his two seasons there.
He started his first game for the Chiefs in Week 17, when the team had already locked the No. 5 seed. He went 21 of 30 for 200 yards and one touchdown pass while rushing for an additional 59 yards. However, the Chiefs lost the game in overtime to the San Diego Chargers.
Daniel got his next opportunity again in Week 17 the following season when Smith was injured. He did win this time, but that was also the last time he saw the field as a starter for the Chiefs. He later signed with the Philadelphia Eagles and backed up Carson Wentz.
He finished his career 2-3 as a starter, recording 1,746 yards and nine touchdowns at an impressive 68.1% completion percentage. Despite the limited playing time, he made the most of his backup role financially. Daniel racked up $41,828,471 in career earnings over 14 NFL seasons.
His success as a backup quarterback allowed him to provide stability for his growing family while Hillary supported his career moves across multiple teams. Now in retirement, Daniel can focus on being a full-time husband and father to his three children.
