NBA Legend Charles Barkley Addresses Question About Potential End of Chiefs’ Dynasty After Super Bowl Loss to Eagles

Former NBA legend Charles Barkley voiced his thoughts on whether the dynasty of the Kansas City Chiefs is coming to an end and the Eagles chances of a repeat.

Charles Barkley never holds back when it comes to sharing his thoughts on sports. The Hall of Famer spent eight seasons with the Philadelphia 76ers, so it makes sense he’s got strong opinions about all four of Philly’s major sports teams. With the Eagles coming off their Super Bowl LIX victory over Kansas City, Barkley weighed in on whether the Chiefs’ dynasty is really over.

Why Does Charles Barkley Think the Eagles Will Be Favored Over Kansas City?

At the American Century Celebrity Golf Tournament, Barkley was asked about the Chiefs and Eagles heading into the 2025-26 season. While he acknowledges Kansas City still has serious talent, he believes Philadelphia will enter as the favorites.

“Well, they still have Patrick (Mahomes) and Travis (Kelce) and Chris Jones, and Andy (Reid),” Barkley answered when asked if he thought Kansas City’s dynasty was coming to an end. “But the Eagles are probably going to be the favorite.”

The reason for Barkley’s confidence in Philadelphia comes down to their front office leadership and roster construction. He praised general manager Howie Roseman’s ability to keep the team competitive year after year.

“Howie Roseman, who is probably the best general manager you got, he’s probably been the best general manager in the NFL for a while now, and they’re going to reload,” Barkley said. “Obviously, Jalen (Hurts) is there, Saquon (Barkley) is there. It’s gonna be a great year.”

Beyond his football analysis, Barkley showed off his golf skills at the tournament. He drilled an eagle and called it one of the best shots of his career.

“Just get it on the green,” Barkley responded. “That’s probably the best shot I’ve ever made. And the crowd was going crazy man, it was unbelievable. But it’s been an amazing day. I’m playing with guys that are awesome like Larry the Cable Guy, but the fans are awesome and they normally are. But I’m having a blast. Shoutout to my coach Stan Utley.”

The 2025-26 NFL season will test Barkley’s prediction about Philadelphia being the team to beat. Kansas City still has the core that won back-to-back Super Bowls before losing to the Eagles, setting up what should be an exciting championship race.
