If there’s one team flying high to start the 2025 NFL season, it’s the Los Angeles Chargers. Under head coach Jim Harbaugh, they’ve found a fresh identity, with quarterback Justin Herbert playing like an MVP and the team riding a 3-0 record after beating all three of their AFC West rivals.
Los Angeles Chargers Success, Ladd McConkey Speaks on WR Room
The Chargers kicked things off with a 27–21 win over the Kansas City Chiefs in Brazil, followed by a 20–9 road victory against the Las Vegas Raiders, and capped it off with a thrilling 23–20 comeback at home over the Denver Broncos.
These early wins have already set a confident tone for the team and given fans plenty of hope that this might finally be the year the Chargers dominate their division.
While Herbert’s elite play has been crucial — he’s leading the league with 860 passing yards, six touchdowns, and just one interception– the real story has been the Chargers’ wide receiver room.

What used to be a question mark is now a major strength of the team, and Ladd McConkey says the secret is versatility and depth.
“It’s been a really good start,” McConkey said in a one-on-one interview with RG. “What makes our receivers good is that all of us can play every position. We can all play inside, outside, move around. We all have our own skill sets. But when it comes down to it, I can run this route a certain way, Keenan can run a certain way, Quentin can run a certain way, and we just freeze defenses with different looks.”
Wide Receiver Room Leading the Way for Herbert and Chargers
Even with Mike Williams suddenly retiring, the WR room hasn’t missed a beat. Keenan Allen is back and contributing, Quentin Johnston has turned early struggles into big plays, McConkey continues to be a reliable target, and Tre Harris has made key plays as well. The result is one of the deepest, most flexible receiving corps in the league.
“We take pride as wide receivers,” McConkey added. “When we score points, it’s not just about catching the ball. It’s about making plays to win the game. And it’s not just me, Keenan, and Quentin, Tre has stepped up too. We’ve got real depth here, and that makes a big difference.”
With this WR room, an elite quarterback, and a renewed coaching staff, the Chargers are in a great spot to challenge the Chiefs for the AFC West. There’s a new energy in Los Angeles, and it might just be the spark Herbert and this team need to finally break through in the playoffs.
