What are the Chargers vs. Eagles odds, our prediction, and what channel is the game on, or where can you stream this Week 9 matchup?

The Los Angeles Chargers vs. Philadelphia Eagles game this week is another where, looking at the two teams this season, a prediction should be reasonably simple. However, with the Chargers, nothing has been simple this season. Let’s take a look at the current NFL odds, TV channel, how to live stream, as well as making a prediction for Chargers at Eagles in Week 9.

After a trio of encouraging wins against the Chiefs, Raiders, and Browns, the Chargers have fallen back down to earth on either side of their bye week. The story always seems to be the same for the franchise — two steps forward, a couple of steps back. With the Chargers’ unpredictability, this game against the Eagles is hard to make a prediction for. Heading into Week 9, Los Angeles sits 4-3 against the spread, having failed to cover the last two. However, they’re 2-1 in terms of covering the spread when on the road.

The Eagles have been equally frustrating this year. Sitting at 3-5, their victories have come against the Falcons, Panthers, and Lions. As soon as they’ve faced a tough opponent, they’ve crumbled. The Eagles have covered in three of their last four games after failing to cover in the previous three.

When we look at the total in Chargers games, there has been an intriguing trend. After the under hit in their first four games, the over has hit in two of the last three. Overall, this is a matchup between two teams that seem to vary wildly in their performance week to week. The Chargers should have too much for the Eagles. Still, the way this Los Angeles team has played in their last two games makes them difficult to trust.

Chargers vs. Eagles prediction

The one thing that has seemed almost certain in this topsy-turvy season for Philadelphia is that Jalen Hurts will mount a furious fourth-quarter comeback if the team is trailing. That has been the situation throughout the year, with Hurts turning what looks to be postgame criticism into head-scratching uncertainty.

The Chargers’ defense needs to step up now if they are going to stop this season from turning into a disaster. Allowing a fifth-worst 44.7% conversion rate on third down is simply not going to cut it. They are putting too much pressure on this offense to make plays. When opponents have the ball, they are taking time off the clock and averaging 2.3 points per drive. With a second-year quarterback, those numbers from a defense will nearly always lead to errors.

The Chargers are the better team, and Brandon Staley has the marginal coaching advantage. However, the Eagles will likely make this uncomfortable for the Chargers at some point.

It might not be until the fourth quarter, but the Chargers need to be in a position where their defense can stand up to different things Hurts throws at them. This game could very much be on upset alert late into the fourth quarter.

Prediction: Chargers 26, Eagles 22
