The Los Angeles Chargers have already begun reshaping their offensive line after a difficult 2025 campaign, signing center Tyler Biadasz to strengthen protection for quarterback Justin Herbert.
A recent projection suggests the Chargers could continue reinforcing the interior line by targeting a veteran All-Pro guard in free agency.
Chargers Projected to Target Veteran Guard Wyatt Teller in Free Agency
PFSN NFL analyst Jacob Infante believes guard Wyatt Teller remains a viable option for teams seeking experienced help along the interior offensive line. Teller spent the 2025 season with the Cleveland Browns and remains recognizable after earning first-team All-Pro honors earlier in his career.
Infante wrote: “Over the last two seasons, Wyatt Teller has missed a combined eight games for the Cleveland Browns. At 31 years old with injuries slowing him down, he’s not quite the same All-Pro type of guard he was a couple of years ago.
That said, teams will value Teller’s starting experience, even if it’s just as a stop-gap option at right guard. His 33rd rank among guards in OLi indicates he’s an average starting guard, which should be enough to get him some good money on a short-term contract.”
The projection estimates Teller could command a contract worth roughly two years and $7 million per season. Reinforcing the offensive line became a clear priority for the Chargers after a difficult 2025 season up front. Herbert absorbed 54 sacks last season, tied for the second-most in the NFL and just one behind league leaders Geno Smith and Cam Ward.
Those issues were evident in the postseason as well. During the Chargers’ playoff loss, Herbert was sacked six times. It was obvious to anyone who watched that the offensive line was the Chargers’ weakest unit.
General manager Joe Hortiz moved quickly to address the problem by signing Biadasz to a $30 million deal. The veteran center brings stability to the middle of the offensive line and represents the first major step in rebuilding the unit under head coach Jim Harbaugh.
Adding Teller would further reinforce the interior. The veteran guard arrived in the Browns ahead of the 2019 season and took over as the Browns’ starting right guard midway through that year, eventually developing into a dominant run blocker and a centerpiece of the team’s offensive line. Teller started 94 games for the Browns and earned back-to-back second-team All-Pro honors at his peak.
Although he is no longer playing at that level, his experience and physical run-blocking style could provide a short-term upgrade as the Chargers continue building stronger protection around Herbert.
