Hampton Expresses Belief With Bold Message After Joining the Chargers

Hampton has already pledged his commitment to the Chargers before setting foot on their practice ground or even in Los Angeles. The former North Carolina star running back also looks assured of starting his NFL career on a successful note by joining the Los Angeles squad.

After landing with the Chargers, Omarion Hampton expressed confidence in the upcoming season, saying: “…I feel like it’s gonna be definitely unstoppable.”

The 22-year-old Hamption will be joining the seasoned Najee Harris and Hassan Haskins, as well as the 2024 NFL Draft picks Kimani Vidal and Jaret Patterson in the Chargers’ running back room. While Harris and Haskins would likely have the starting role, Jim Harbaugh could give Hampton a chance to start.

By drafting Hampton, Harbaugh and Co. addressed one of their significant roster gaps at running back. Their other roster needs include an edge, an interior offensive lineman, a defensive lineman, a tight end, a wide receiver, and a cornerback, most of which the franchise would address in the later rounds.

Hampton was ranked as one of the best running backs in the 2025 NFL Draft following Boise State’s Ashton Jeanty, whom the Las Vegas Raiders picked at No. 6. Hampton’s standout collegiate run at North Carolina, followed by his equally impressive performance at the 2025 NFL Combine, made him a top-rated prospect.

As per College Football Network’s scouting report on Omarion, his “speed and burst, when he’s able to find a hole, is borderline special for his size, and he has the vision and spatial awareness to tempo his runs and create second-level windows with his footwork. Additionally, while he’s not as productive as others in the receiving phase, he undoubtedly has enough in his toolbox to take short passes for RAC.”

Omarion has recorded 3,164 yards and 30 touchdowns over the past two seasons, and standing at “6’0″, 221 pounds, his size and physicality stand out as separating traits, but he brings even more to the table. He’s the real deal, as NFL defenses will soon discover. At the NFL level, the Chargers’ new running back is expected to be a massive threat to the opposite defenses, given his enormous frame.”
