The Los Angeles Chargers continue to fight for a playoff spot, currently second in the AFC West with a 9-4 record, behind the Denver Broncos. The Chargers have one of the most demanding remaining schedules in the NFL, but after eliminating the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 15, a Wild Card berth is almost inevitable.
What Are The Chargers’ Playoff Chances?
Los Angeles opened the season with authority, stacking three straight wins over the Chiefs, Las Vegas Raiders, and Denver Broncos to seize an early lead in the AFC West. Their momentum stalled in Weeks 4 and 5, however, when they suffered unexpected losses to the struggling New York Giants and Washington Commanders.
Even so, the Chargers have remained firmly in the postseason mix. Entering Week 15, Los Angeles has dropped just one of its last six games. Kansas City’s loss on Sunday, which pushed the Chiefs to 6–7, combined with the Chargers’ win over the Eagles, helped clear a more favorable path toward January football.
Justin Herbert, who underwent left-hand surgery last Monday, returned this week to lead a game-tying drive in the final minutes against Philadelphia. He rushed for 33 yards between the fourth quarter and overtime before Tony Jefferson sealed the win with a goal-line interception of Jalen Hurts.
That victory boosted the Chargers’ playoff chances to 78.2%, per PFSN’s Playoff Predictor, while their odds of winning the AFC West rose to 11.2%.
Los Angeles still trails the Broncos by two games and faces one of the toughest remaining schedules in the league. However, the Week 15 win against the Chiefs strengthened their chances of making the playoffs considerably.

How Week 15 Could Change the Chargers’ Playoff Odds
After beating the Chiefs, the Chargers saw their odds of making the playoffs rise 11.1% to 89.3% chance. While not as high, they did see their chances of winning the AFC West increase by 7.4% to 19.3% as they await the results of the matchup between the Broncos and the Green Bay Packers. Here’s a look at how a Denver win or loss would affect those odds, though.
If the Chargers win AND the Broncos lose (vs. Packers):
- Playoff chances: 91.8%
- Division chances: 27.7%
If the Chargers win AND the Broncos win:
- Playoff chances: 91.6%
- Division chances: 10.2%
Following the win over Kansas City, the Chargers travel to Dallas in Week 16 to face a Cowboys team fighting to keep its own playoff hopes alive. They then host the surging Houston Texans in Week 17 before finishing the season on the road in Denver.
The path won’t be easy, but Los Angeles remains firmly in control of its destiny. With consistency and sharper execution down the stretch, the Chargers have every opportunity to punch their ticket to the postseason.
