It was a memorable week for Los Angeles Chargers receiver Ladd McConkey, who not only contributed to his team’s 31-14 win over the Las Vegas Raiders but also celebrated a cherished moment at home. As the Chargers closed out a strong divisional victory, McConkey received a touching message from his wife, Sydney.

Ladd McConkey and Sydney celebrated their eighth anniversary together. She shared a loving tribute on her Instagram with a photo, writing: “8 years with the love of my life & forever to go. I love you & proud of the man you are!”
Ladd and Sydney’s story stretched back long before his rise to the NFL. They first met in Dalton, Georgia, where they grew up together and began dating in December 2017 of their high school years.
Having known each other since the fifth grade, the two have maintained a steady, supportive relationship through years of school, sports, and cross-country moves.

During McConkey’s college career at the University of Georgia, where he helped the Bulldogs win two national championships, Sydney was a staple. She balanced her own college experience with cheering on Ladd through the highs and challenges of SEC football.
Their relationship took the next step in July 2024 when McConkey proposed in Ranger, Georgia. They married on April 12, 2025.
Now in the NFL, Sydney continues to support McConkey as he adapts to life with the Chargers. A former educator who now focuses on personal development and fitness often shares glimpses of her training routines, sometimes crediting Ladd as her forever gym partner.
Although she keeps much of her life private, her messages to her husband frequently shed light on their shared history.
While the couple celebrated the cherished moment, McConkey played an important role in the Chargers’ win over the Las Vegas Raiders. He caught a 7-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Justin Herbert late in the third quarter, extending Los Angeles’ lead and helping secure the team’s fourth victory in its last five games.
Herbert, who suffered a broken bone in his non-throwing hand early in the matchup, fought through the injury with a hard cast and guided the offense to an efficient performance. He is scheduled for surgery but hopes to play in the Chargers’ next game.
Running back Kimani Vidal delivered an incredible performance with 126 rushing yards and a 59-yard touchdown, while the Los Angeles defense held the Raiders to 31 rushing yards and 156 total yards overall.
