As the NFL season prepares to kick off, pop superstar Taylor Swift and Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce are once again making headlines, but not for anything happening on the field. Instead, the buzz surrounds a major personal milestone: their engagement.
Who Is Kindred Lubeck, the Designer Behind the Famous Ring?
The couple announced their pending nuptials on Tuesday, August 26, posting pictures on Instagram of Kelce proposing to the megastar singer in a garden filled with flowers.

The images were captioned, “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married.” The photos also featured a close-up of Swift’s stunning engagement ring, which was crafted by a talented designer with surprising ties to the sports world.
The creator of the engagement ring, Kindred Lubeck, has a connection to one of college football’s most well-known programs. Lubeck is a Florida State University alumna, having graduated in 2018 with a bachelor’s degree in psychology. She followed in the footsteps of her father, Jay Lubeck, who is a master goldsmith.

In a 2024Ā interview with Voyage Jacksonville Magazine, Lubeck explained that she joined her father’s business in October 2019. According to Greta Cross of USA Today, “When the COVID-19 pandemic began in early 2020, the Lubeck showroom temporarily closed, but during this time, Lubeck and her father grew closer as he taught her the craft of goldsmithing.”
Initially, Lubeck took a slightly different path than her father. “Initially, Lubeck worked on silver pieces, but eventually she transitioned to gold like her father,” Cross notes. “She began to share her pieces on social media, and quickly, she began receiving requests for engagement rings, she told Voyage Jacksonville.”
Of course, she likely never anticipated a request from one of the world’s most famous musicians and one of the NFL’s greatest tight ends. Kelce reportedly helped design the ring himself alongside Lubeck, and it has been speculated that he spent up to $550,000Ā on the piece.
According to Swift’s publicist, Tree Paine, the diamond is an old mine brilliant cut. The Associated Press describes these cuts as “often boxy shaped with rounded corners and soft curved edges.” Swift’s diamond is set in a yellow gold bezel setting.
According to her business website,Ā Artifex Fine Jewelry, Lubeck specializes in hand engraving. While rings on her online shop range from $4,300 to $38,300, her work for celebrity clients like Swift and Kelce demonstrates that the final price can be significantly higher. That reality was certainly evidenced by the rumored price Kelce paid for the custom design.
While the event date has not been announced, fans are already discussing the couple’s wedding. According to an exclusive fromĀ Page Six, the two plan on having a more private ceremony with family and friends.
