EA Sports College Football 26 dropped a preview that had UCF Knights fans going wild. Last year, the video game franchise returned after more than a decade away, and now the latest edition is about to launch with some major upgrades.
Just one day before the game’s early access launch, EA gave Knights fans exactly what they’ve been asking for. The uniform preview showed off something that had the entire UCF community buzzing with one simple word.
What Made UCF Knights Fans Lose Their Minds Over College Football 26?
UCF Football’s official Twitter account shared a 30-second clip from EA Sports College Football 26, giving fans their first look at the Knights’ official uniform options. The timing couldn’t have been better, dropping just days before the game’s early access launch.
The clip started with UCF’s traditional all-black look, featuring black helmets and gold jersey numbers. Knights fans know this look well. But halfway through the clip, EA Sports dropped the real surprise.
EA Sports revealed a new uniform combination with a gold helmet, gold pants, and a white jersey with gold numbers. College Football 25 had the white jersey, but it didn’t include the gold pants. This made the new look feel completely fresh.

The Knights’ football account captioned the preview with “One word to describe #CFB26… GOLD.” That single word sent fans into celebration mode across social media. “Finally gold pants,” one user replied. Another fan got creative, writing, “Two words… KNIGHT. MODE.”

Other fans jumped in with excitement, posting things like “GOLD WE GOT GOLD.” One Knights supporter even offered some constructive feedback, writing “Needs black socks, come on @EASPORTSCollege, put black socks on.”
Why Does Gold Mean So Much to UCF Football History?
Gold has always been more than just a color for the Knights. It represents their pride and tradition. Under former coach George O’Leary, UCF often wore gold jerseys at home, usually paired with white pants and gold helmets. The combination became a signature look during some of the program’s most significant moments.

Scott Frost’s return to Orlando adds another layer of meaning to this uniform reveal. Frost guided the Knights to a perfect 13-0 season in 2017, which ended with a Peach Bowl victory over Auburn. That undefeated run earned UCF a claim to a national championship and brought Frost multiple National Coach of the Year honors.
The 2017 season put UCF on the map nationally. The Knights averaged 48.2 points per game that season, ranking second in the nation. Their offense was explosive, and the gold uniforms became part of the identity during that magical run.
Now, as Frost begins his second tenure with the program, the golden uniform revealed in College Football 26 feels like a nod to that successful past. The timing isn’t coincidental. EA Sports clearly understood what this uniform combination means to Knights fans.
College Football 26 launches with several major upgrades from its predecessor. The Dynasty mode was completely overhauled, and the graphics engine was significantly improved. The Road to Glory mode now includes features that make players feel like real coaches managing every aspect of their program.
Knights fans can get their hands on the game three days early, starting July 7. The official launch date is July 10 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, but early access options let players jump in sooner. Given the reaction to this uniform preview, expect plenty of UCF fans to create their perfect Knights look as soon as they can download the game.
