Commitments in college football recruiting have become increasingly volatile in the age of NIL deals. Players routinely flip schools once, twice, or even three times before signing day arrives.
This reality created concern for the UCF Knights after landing a verbal commitment from three-star quarterback Kane Archer in April. However, following his official visit to campus, the young signal-caller appears firmly locked in with the Knights.
Archer Reinforces UCF Commitment Following Official Visit
Archer ranks as a three-star prospect in the 2026 recruiting class. According to 247Sports’ composite rankings, he stands as the No. 34 quarterback nationally.
The Greenwood, AR, native drew attention from major programs across the country, earning offers from more than 20 Division I schools throughout his recruitment. During the 2024 season, he generated a whopping 67 total touchdowns and 4,675 total yards while leading his team to a perfect 13-0 record.
UCF offered the Arkansas prospect in January 2025, and Archer committed to the Knights nearly four months later on April 29.

Despite his verbal commitment to UCF, Archer’s recruitment gained momentum in recent months. Since the beginning of 2025, he has earned additional offers from schools like Appalachian State, which hoped to make a late push for his services.
Recognizing the competitive landscape, the Knights strategically brought Archer to Orlando for an official visit on June 20. The plan appears to have succeeded, as the quarterback recently shared his enthusiasm with Rivals’ UCF insider Brandon Helwig following the campus visit.
Kane Archer has been all in with UCF since announcing his commitment in April, and last weekend’s official visit only reinforced his decision.

“I love it here. I’m ready to get up here. I get up here in January, and I couldn’t be more excited,” Archer told Helwig. “Coaching staff, everybody, I don’t think you can get a better place than this in the country.”
Significant Addition to 2026 Class
The commitment represents a significant recruiting victory for UCF, as Archer becomes the first quarterback in the program’s 2026 recruiting class. His pledge provides the Knights with an early foundation for their quarterback room of the future.
With UCF serving as Archer’s only official visit destination this spring, both fans and the coaching staff have reason for confidence in retaining his commitment through early national signing day, when his pledge becomes official.
While Archer may not carry the highest recruiting rankings, he will provide crucial depth to the UCF quarterback room, which is expected to need reinforcements following the 2025 season.
