Tennessee DB Boo Carter’s Off-Field Concerns, Ace Bailey Link May Impact His Transfer Odds With Deion Sanders, Warns Analyst

An analyst warns Boo Carter’s recent off-field concerns, along with his new representation, may hurt his chances of joining Deion Sanders’ Colorado.

The Boo Carter situation at Tennessee has reached a boiling point, with many predicting the young defensive back may enter the transfer portal after being away from the Volunteers’ program for an extended period.

As the saga unfolds, Colorado is widely seen as a likely destination if he does transfer. However, one analyst warns that because of Carter’s new representation, head coach Deion Sanders might not want him on his team.

Analyst Warns Boo Carter’s Off-Field Issues and New Agent Could Impact Colorado Transfer Chances

DB Orland “Boo” Carter committed to Tennessee in the Vols’ 2024 recruiting class and stood out during his true freshman season. Heading into 2025, he was expected to be one of the team’s top defenders, but his status with the Vols is now uncertain.

Carter has reportedly missed numerous team activities this offseason and was confronted about it by his Tennessee teammates. It remains unclear whether or not he will be at the Vols’ fall camp, which starts on July 30.

Because of this, Carter could enter the transfer portal before the season starts. Colorado has shown strong interest, and as a defensive back, the Buffaloes would be a logical fit. However, one Colorado analyst believes that due to Carter’s recent behavior, Sanders may not want him on the team.

Kevin Borba, host of the “Locked on Buffs” podcast, explained that Coach Prime likely won’t tolerate the off-field issues Carter has brought to Knoxville.

“Deion Sanders isn’t going to play these games,” Borba said. He later added, “Coach Prime runs a tight ship, and he’s not going to let someone come into the locker room and corrupt his program.”

Borba’s concern goes beyond Carter missing team activities; he’s also troubled by Carter’s recent switch to agent Omar Cooper of Lifestyle Sports Agency.

Cooper represents Ace Bailey, the Utah Jazz’s first-round pick in the 2025 NBA Draft. Bailey missed team interviews and openly said he didn’t want to play for some teams during the pre-draft process. With Cooper now representing Carter, Borba sees this as a red flag.

“Now he’s represented by someone in Omar Cooper, who let’s just say Omar Cooper did not do himself any favors in the predraft process for the NBA.”

Given all the recent developments surrounding Carter’s situation, Borba seems to think it’s unlikely the Buffaloes won’t go near Carter regardless of how talented he might be.

Carter’s status at Tennessee remains uncertain, and he may just end up staying. However, if he does transfer, his repeated absences from team activities and new representation could deter Deion Sanders and other coaches from recruiting him.
