Steve Sarkisian’s Texas Targets 1,864-YD Transfer Portal RB to Aid Arch Manning

Since the college football transfer portal opened on Jan. 2nd, Texas has lost four running backs, but they could be set to add an explosive option.

The Texas Longhorns recently concluded the 2025 college football season with a 41-27 victory over the Michigan Wolverines in the Cheez-It Citrus Bowl, the third consecutive season in which the Longhorns won 10 or more games, a feat the program hadn’t achieved since the late 2000s with Mack Brown at the helm.

Despite the success under current head coach Steve Sarkisian, the Longhorns have seen the departure of four scholarship running backs since the transfer portal opened on Jan. 2. In an attempt to turn the tide, Texas is bringing in an exciting and explosive rusher for a visit, hoping to bolster its backfield for quarterback Arch Manning in the 2026 season.

Texas Brings in Transfer Portal RB as Roster Reload Begins

According to On Texas Football, Arizona State Sun Devils transfer back, Raleek Brown, is expected to visit Texas today.

Brown is a fascinating offensive weapon, in addition to being one of the more underrated offensive players in the entire transfer portal. He finished his high school career as a highly-ranked four-star recruit with over 6,000 all-purpose yards before staying close to his Mater Dei (Calif.) finale by signing with the USC Trojans.

His freshman campaign finished with some signs of promise in more of a hybrid receiver-running back role that saw him eclipse 400 yards from scrimmage and 500 kick return yards, along with six offensive touchdowns, before battling injury and struggling to find his footing in the next two seasons.

Fast forward to 2025, where he tallied 1,141 yards and four touchdowns across 186 carries (6.1 ypc) while also securing 34 receptions for 239 yards and two scores. The dynamism that produced a 4.19-second shuttle and 35-inch vertical in high school highlights the game-breaking potential as we see below.

This 88-yard score against Colorado also highlights the skill and nuance at Brown’s disposal by tempoing his approach within the rhythm of the run to maximize his blocking before unleashing his burst, which grew into a threatening long speed.

His film is full of fluid, coordinated feet that are generally paired with his eyes, which assist in his ability to break tackles (0.29 missed tackle forced per rushing attempt in 2025, according to Pro Football Focus) and reel off explosive runs (31 carries of 10+ yards per PFF in 2025).

A four-star transfer recruit and top-five transfer running back via 247Sports, Brown’s 86.7 PFSN Impact score is the eighth-best mark amongst transfer running backs currently. The redshirt junior has previously visited Indiana and is also expected to visit Alabama.
