Stephen A. Smith’s Daughter Mocks His Outfit at Notre Dame-Miami As Ray Lewis Excuse Falls Flat

Stephen A. Smith’s outfit at the Miami-Notre Dame game sparks a viral roast from his daughter. What did she say about her dad?

Mario Cristobal’s now-No. 5 Miami started its 2025 season with a statement win, knocking now-No. 9 Notre Dame 27-24 in front of a raucous home crowd. The Hurricanes relied on a balanced attack behind transfer quarterback Carson Beck.

But beyond the action on the field, ESPN analyst Stephen A. Smith also stole the show online, though not for his commentary. Instead, his daughter had fans and analysts laughing after poking fun at his outfit during her latest appearance on Smith’s show.

Stephen A. Smith’s Outfit Gets Roasted by His Daughter

The game drew plenty of star power on the sidelines, including Miami legends Michael Irvin and Ray Lewis, as Irvin was spotted celebrating wildly after the Hurricanes sealed the victory.

A picture is also making rounds on social media, drawing the attention of the college football world. In it, Irvin and Lewis are alongside Stephen A. Smith, who showed up in a white shirt and matching hat.

However, that look didn’t go over well with his daughter, Samantha, who didn’t hold back when asked for her thoughts at her latest appearance on ESPN’s First Take.

“Yeah, he looks terrible. Look at your dad. Are you proud of this? Did you design this? White is not his color. I think him covering up his face is good,” she joked.

“The bucket hat, though, in his closet a few weeks ago, I was going through and stealing some of his clothes. And I found these, like, super sparkly red, orange, and yellow sneakers. I just realized he just likes to be scurrilous. He shops like that. I mean, I don’t want to talk right now, but I promise once I clean up, I promise I do.”

Stephen A.’s Ray Lewis Defense Falls Flat

When questioned about his outfit, Stephen A. tried to make a course correction about the hat he was wearing, but he revealed that it was an iconic hat that he was wearing.

“That was Ray Lewis’s hat. And I asked him, ‘Could I put it on for the picture?” Stephen said.

That excuse, however, didn’t land with many fans, who joked that borrowing a Hall of Famer’s hat doesn’t justify the rest of the outfit.

“You asked the man, can I steal your hat in the mail room? So weird. How diseases get spread, people. Keep your hats to yourself,” said Samantha playfully.

The exchange showcased the unique bond between Stephen A. and his daughter, Samantha, who has been building her own entertainment career with appearances in projects such as Disney+’s “Saturdays” and Peacock’s “The Best Man: The Final Chapters.”

For Miami fans, the playful off-field storyline was just the cherry on top of a massive win that could reshape early playoff discussions.

As for Stephen A. Smith, one thing is certain: while Miami’s football team is setting the tone for the season, his sideline style may need a serious rework before the next big game, especially if his daughter has anything to say about it.
