What Did Sam Pittman Say About Coaching Changes After Notre Dame Loss?

In his latest postgame press conference, uploaded by reporter Courtney Mims, Pittman said, “We played terrible. We couldn’t get off the field defensively. It’s the same things, it’s the tackling, the coverage… that’s on all of us.”

Pittman got more specific when reporters asked about possible coaching changes during the bye week. “Possibly. I’ve got some time to think about some things… possibly.”

His hesitant response reflects the reality of Saturday’s disaster. Notre Dame scored touchdowns on all six first-half drives, piling up 420 yards in just 30 minutes. It seems they have tied for the most points Arkansas has allowed in a first half since 1957. Boos rained down at Razorback Stadium as fans headed for the exits at halftime.

The final blow came with 35 seconds left in the half when Jadarian Price took a screen pass 34 yards to the house. The stadium largely emptied at halftime, and Notre Dame fans took over with audible “Let’s go Irish!” chants that drowned out brief “Fire Pittman!” chants from the remaining Arkansas supporters.

The Arkansas coach also showed accountability when asked about fan frustration. According to Josh Berrian’s social media post, Pittman stated, “If I was the fans I’d be mad at me too. I’d be mad as hell. Hell, I’m mad at me.”
