President Donald Trump will be in attendance at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Fla., as the top-ranked Indiana Hoosiers go up against the No. 10-ranked Miami Hurricanes in the College Football Playoff National Championship Game.
Trump, who has a residence in Mar-a-Lago, Fla., has not specified which team he would be rooting for while watching the game take place.

Before going to the game, though, Trump issued a lengthy statement that talked about college football in general. Trump also wished both the Hoosiers and Hurricanes well as they battle it out for college football’s premier championship.

“Tonight, the College Football Playoff National Championship brings a season of dedication, sacrifice, and hard work to a climatic conclusion,” Trump’s statement read. “It stands as the final measure of preparation, resolve, and competition that have long defined college football — a beloved and uniquely American tradition.”
Later on in Trump’s statement, it reads, “At its best, college football reflects our timeless American values of family, freedom, unity, and hard work and represents the pinnacle of our national spirit.”
Trump, in this statement, mentions how both players and coaches reflect this in their performance. He also shares his thoughts on college football fans, whose “dedication gives college football its lasting meaning, passion, and glory.”
He closes by sending well wishes to the Hoosiers and Hurricanes on his behalf, along with First Lady Melania Trump. “Melania and I congratulate the Indiana Hoosiers and Miami Hurricanes on making the College Football Playoff National Championship,” Trump’s statement reads.
“God bless the talented players and dedicated coaches…” and Trump shared the same sentiments towards the teams’ fans, too.
Trump has made public appearances at sporting events during his presidency. He was also on the field for the coin toss at the Army-Navy football game. It’s not clear if Trump will be at midfield for Monday night’s coin toss at Hard Rock Stadium. In previous sporting event appearances, Trump has found a seat in a box and watched from its comfort.
The Hoosiers hope that Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback Fernando Mendoza can lead his team to national championship glory. But the Hurricanes, who will have a home-field advantage with their fans in attendance, hope that quarterback Carson Beck can help “The U” return to national championship glory.
