How do Hawaii and Portland State Match Up?

Portland State is an FCS program and a member of the Big Sky Conference. The Vikings are coming off a rough 2024 campaign, finishing 3-8 overall and 3-5 in conference play.

2025 hasn’t started much better for Portland State. They’ve dropped their first three games of the season, losing 42-0 to Tarleton State, 69-0 to BYU, and 50-20 to North Dakota. The Vikings are looking to turn things around Saturday against the Rainbow Warriors, but Hawaii has looked solid through its first three games.

Hawaii enters the matchup with a 2-1 record. They opened the season with an impressive 23-20 win over Stanford, fell 40-6 to Arizona the following week, and bounced back with a 37-20 victory over Sam Houston last weekend.

The Rainbow Warriors are led by redshirt freshman quarterback Micah Alejado, who has been solid so far, completing 45 of 70 passes for 367 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception. Alejado has been dealing with a minor lower-body injury that kept him out of the game against Sam Houston. He’s officially a game-time decision for Saturday’s matchup against Portland State.

Even if Alejado doesn’t play, Hawaii remains firmly in control. Portland State not only competes at the FCS level, but they aren’t a strong FCS program, while Hawaii has looked like one of the best teams in the Mountain West early this season.

It should be an interesting matchup Saturday night, and for those looking for late-night college football action, this is the game to watch.
