The Penn State Nittany Lions had a strong recruiting run from late March to early June, landing several key commitments. However, things have slowed down recently, likely because many top targets are now taking their official visits and considering their options.
However, HC James Franklin’s recruiting campaign is back in the spotlight again as they host several top offensive line recruits this weekend. One of them is five-star OT Immanuel Iheanacho. The Maryland native is set to arrive in Happy Valley for a high-stakes official visit that could shape the Nittany Lions’ future on the offensive line.
Penn State Hosts 5-Star OL Immanuel Iheanacho on High-Stakes Official Visit
Immanuel Iheanacho is one of the most exciting names in high school football right now. According to the 247Sports Composite, he is ranked as the top interior offensive lineman in the 2026 class. He also stands as the No. 8 overall player in the country and the top recruit from Maryland.
Last season, Iheanacho did not allow a single sack. He earned MaxPreps Junior All-American honors and impressed at big events like the Under Armour All-American Game and the Polynesian Bowl. Because of this, many people are excited about his upcoming official visit to Penn State.
Recently, he narrowed his college choices to four finalists: Penn State, Oregon, LSU, and Auburn. He has already visited LSU and Auburn, and he will head to Oregon next weekend. Each school is giving him a full-court press, but Penn State’s visit is especially important because Oregon and LSU are considered the frontrunners right now.
This marks his fourth visit to the Nittany Lions, signaling serious interest despite the stiff competition.
Speaking on the “Wiltfong Whiparound” podcast, On3 recruiting insider Steve Wiltfong said, “It’s the perfect segue into Iheanacho, who’s taking his official visit to Penn State this weekend. LSU and Oregon are the top two — he’s going to be at Oregon next weekend for his official visit, but LSU gave him a great OV two weekends ago.”
He added, “Penn State’s a program he’s always had a keen eye on. I think they’ve got to make up ground on the Ducks and the Tigers, but he’ll be on campus at Penn State this weekend. LSU — they’re a program to watch.”

This visit comes at a big moment for James Franklin. His team is in the middle of an important recruiting push and is hosting several top prospects this weekend.
Right now, their 2026 class is ranked No. 6 nationally. Adding the five-star offensive lineman could even push them into the elite group of national contenders.
While Iheanacho hasn’t officially committed yet, 247 Sports currently has him listed as “100% Oregon.” But in college football recruiting, anything can happen.
