Dan Lanning, Oregon Continue Massive Recruiting Push, Lands Elite 2026 WR Commit

Dan Lanning and the Oregon Ducks are hot on the recruiting trail right after getting a commitment from one of the best 2026 receivers in the country.

The Oregon Ducks have been playing it slow in the 2026 recruiting cycle, only signing eight commits in the class thus far.

However, in the last two days, HC Dan Lanning and his staff have been making noise. He has swayed the decision of a former Boise State quarterback commit and now has landed one of the top wide receiver recruits in the country.

Dan Lanning, Oregon Heating Up on the Recruiting Trail

The 2026 recruiting cycle has not been kind to the Oregon Ducks. They lost a long and close battle for the nation’s number one player, quarterback Jared Curtis, and have seen decommitments from other top prospects.

Oregon’s luck may be turning, though, as recently they were able to sway three-star quarterback Bryson Beaver away from Boise State with an offer. Previously, Beaver was viewed as a likely Broncos commit.

After losing Curtis’ recruitment, the Ducks have turned their attention towards other quarterbacks in the 2026 class. Lanning isn’t afraid to fight dirty either, as he offered Bryson Beaver despite the quarterback already being committed to Boise State.

Soon after the Ducks offered Beaver, he decommitted from Boise State, opening the door for Oregon to move in and steal him away from the Broncos. Landing Beaver would give Oregon its first quarterback commit in the class, something that Lanning has desperately been looking for.

In addition to swaying Beaver, Lanning was also able to get a commitment from Messiah Hampton, a four-star receiver and the number one player in the state of New York.

Hampton becomes Oregon’s fourth four-star in their 2026 class and could be a sign of things to come for the Ducks in the coming days.

Just last weekend, Dan Lanning hosted three uncommitted five-star recruits on campus in hopes of landing some of the top prospects in the class. The Ducks are in the thick of it, landing Richard Wesley, Brandon Aarington, and Tyler Atkinson, who are all top 30 players in the class.

Beaver isn’t the only quarterback that Oregon has its eyes on, either, as they are also heavily pursuing five-star Ryder Lyons, who On3 ranks as the 17th best player in the entire country. Lyons is also on campus in Eugene right now for his official visit to the Ducks.

It’s unclear just how good this 2026 class will end up being for Oregon, but their recent success on the recruiting trail is a good sign for Dan Lanning, who desperately needed some wins in this cycle.
