4-Star 2026 DL Recruit Nolan Wilson Commits to Alabama Over Miami, Florida, and Auburn
Head Coach Kalen DeBoer landed another major recruiting victory for his 2026 class. Four-star defensive lineman Nolan Wilson confirmed his commitment to the Crimson Tide, making Alabama’s 18th pledge of the cycle.
Wilson, one of Mississippi’s top recruits, chose Alabama over Miami, Florida, and Auburn. Defensive line coach Freddie Roach deserves most of the credit for this recruiting win through his consistent communication, in-home visits, and relationship-building during the process.
Wilson Picks Alabama After Official Visit Circuit
Wilson officially committed to Alabama on Friday, becoming the latest high-profile addition to the Crimson Tide’s 2026 recruiting class. The 6’4″, 260-pound prospect from Picayune, Mississippi, had several top programs pursuing his commitment, but Alabama’s early connection made the strongest impression.
Roach was the first coach to offer him a Division I scholarship. Wilson took his final official visit to Alabama on May 30, just before completing trips to Auburn, Florida, and Miami. Despite Miami’s late push, Alabama’s coaching staff secured Wilson’s commitment.
ON3’s recruiting reporter shared the news on X, writing, “BREAKING: Elite 2026 DL Nolan Wilson has committed to Alabama, he tells me for @rivals. The 6’4″, 260-pound defensive lineman from Picayune, Mississippi, chose the Crimson Tide over Miami, Ole Miss, Auburn, and Florida. He’s ranked as the No. 3 defensive lineman in the ’26 class.”

Wilson visited Alabama multiple times after receiving his offer. He explained that he took several trips because he wanted to show how serious he was about Alabama. Wilson said, “Alabama is getting multiple visits because I am taking Alabama serious just like they are taking me serious. Alabama was the first place to show interest in me and also the first place to give me my very first offer. And they haven’t stopped showing me that I am a priority for them.”
Strong Relationship With Coaching Staff Seals the Deal
Wilson also praised the defensive line coach and their strong relationship. He said, “Coach Roach and I have a great relationship. We talk at least every day or every other day or on a consistent basis. Sometimes it’s not even about football, just normal life things… he gets the very best out of a person because he has given them his very best.”
The relationship between Wilson and Roach proved crucial in Alabama’s recruiting success. Roach’s approach of building genuine connections beyond football resonated with Wilson and his family throughout the process.
Wilson’s commitment represents a significant addition to Alabama’s defensive line recruiting class. The No. 68 overall player and the No. 3 prospect from Mississippi becomes the third defensive lineman in the class, joining fellow four-star Khamariyan Johnson and three-star JJ Finch.
His commitment could influence other top prospects still considering Alabama. Five-star safety Jireh Edwards is expected to announce his decision soon, and Wilson’s pledge adds momentum to DeBoer’s recruiting efforts in the 2026 cycle.
The commitment solidifies Alabama’s position among the top recruiting classes nationally for 2026. With 18 commitments already secured, DeBoer continues building the foundation for sustained success in Tuscaloosa.
