Former Miami Hurricanes quarterback Carson Beck is one of the prospects fighting for the 2026 NFL Draft’s QB2 spot, with the QB1 spot generally viewed as being held by former Indiana star Fernando Mendoza.
Carson Beck Opens Up on Comeback Mentions Browns Interest
Beck put together an impressive campaign in Coral Gables, culminating in an appearance in the national championship game after transferring from Georgia. He left Athens under a cloud after suffering a torn ulnar collateral ligament that necessitated surgery in Dec. 2024.
While speaking to reporters at the combine after meeting with the Miami Dolphins on Friday, Beck spoke about returning to form with the Hurricanes after getting over his injury woes last season.

“I don’t think it was a falling in love again, I’ve always loved football. It was more of coming back from an injury,” Beck said. “Being able to come out of that and have the opportunity to play football again. I don’t think it was ever a matter of whether I love football or not. I’ve been doing this since I was five years old.
“It’s a game I’ve loved and cherished my whole entire life, essentially. Again, it was more about coming back from the injury, being able to go to rehab, having great teammates around me to help me push through and get through that and ultimately being able to play again after having it get taken away from me.”
Over the past few years, Beck has been one of the most polarizing prospects in college football, due to his inconsistency and tendency to throw interceptions at crucial moments. Despite being a two-time national champion, Beck’s career in Georgia ended under a cloud as the Gunner Stockton era started in earnest at the back end of 2024.
During his media availability in Indianapolis on Friday, Beck revealed his close personal relationship with new Cleveland Browns coach Todd Monken and his desire to be drafted by the NFL franchise.

“That would obviously be super cool,” Beck said. “Any team that drafts me, I’m super grateful for the opportunity. But if Coach Monken were my coach again, I really enjoyed him being my coach at Georgia and everything I was able to learn from him there. So, I’d be super stoked. I love him personally.
“I’ve actually known him since I was 7-8 years old. I played baseball with his son when he was the WRs coach with the Jags. I’ve been able to have a really good relationship with him over the years, and obviously, at Georgia, he taught me a lot of what I know. He’s an amazing coach. I love Coach Monk. He’s an awesome coach and a great guy.”
Beck earned a PFSN College QB Impact score of 83.3 after tallying 3,813 passing yards, resulting in 30 touchdowns and 12 interceptions, while adding 43 rushing touchdowns and two scores for the Hurricanes last season.
