The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets have vastly improved their recruiting efforts under the leadership of head coach Brent Key. In 2025, Key brought in his best class yet, which included five-star offensive tackle Josh Petty and Georgia Tech came in as 247Sports’ 23rd-best recruiting class in the country.
Key carried over his 2025 success to 2026 by landing a commitment from four-star cornerback Jaedyn Terry, who committed to the Yellow Jackets back in March. However, Georgia Tech is in danger of losing Terry as the Georgia native is currently taking an official visit with head coach Kalen DeBoer and the Alabama Crimson Tide.
Georgia Tech Commit Jaedyn Terry Takes Official Visit to Alabama
Verbal commitments have almost become less meaningful in the age of NIL. Players will commit, then decommit from multiple schools before they finally sign with one.
Georgia Tech may be learning that the hard way as their top 2026 commit is on his official visit to Alabama this weekend.

Terry, who plays for Fellowship Christian School in Roswell, Georgia, decided to stay local back in March when he announced his commitment to Georgia Tech via a post on X in which he said he was “1000% committed.”
While he may end up as a Yellow Jacket, his official visit to Alabama isn’t his only scheduled visit. Terry will also travel to Starkville, Mississippi, to visit with the Mississippi State Bulldogs, then he’ll go to Lexington, Kentucky, to visit the Kentucky Wildcats.
It would be devastating for Georgia Tech to lose Terry, who is the highest-rated recruit the team has in its 2026 class. 247Sports ranks the young defensive back as a top 400 player and the 30th-best cornerback in the country.
Terry’s 6’3″, 175-pound frame gives him the size and length that he needs to play at the Division I level. His athleticism is good enough to comfortably play for a Power Four program.
Teams have been late to Terry’s recruitment, with many programs not showing interest until 2025. His commitment to Georgia Tech happened early this year, which could be a reason why he’s now reviewing his options.
Terry’s hometown of Manchester, Georgia, is only an hour-and-a-half drive from Georgia Tech. The Yellow Jackets have that hometown advantage should they be able to keep Terry.
Time will tell if he flips, but the Yellow Jackets seem to still be in the driver’s seat.
