Kadyn Proctor Details Dark Side of Alabama Fandom After ‘Tragic’ Alabama Loss to Texas

Kadyn Proctor reveals harsh Alabama fan backlash after the Texas loss and how the moment exposed the dark side of fandom.

After initially committing to the hometown Iowa Hawkeyes, Des Moines native Kadyn Proctor enrolled at Alabama in 2023. In January of 2024, he transferred back to Iowa, but again switched course in the spring, transferring back to the Tide.

Kadyn Proctor Details Tough Reality of Playing at Alabama

Proctor has entered the 2026 Draft and is considered a fringe first-round prospect by some. When speaking to the media at the NFL Scouting Combine, Proctor discussed how different it is to play football at Alabama.

During Proctor’s freshman season, the Tide suffered a 34-24 loss to the Texas Longhorns, ending their 21-game home winning streak. Proctor, like many of his teammates, didn’t have their best day.

“Not too many people know this, but after the Texas game my freshman year, I think I gave up two sacks that game and we lost at home,” Proctor said. “It was a tragic loss for Alabama and all hell broke loose.”

After the game, Proctor saw just how a poor on-field performance can affect the Alabama fan base.

“I remember I was going to Jimmy John’s to pick up a sandwich after the game, to eat and everything, and I had my own Alabama fan come up to me and ask me if I was Kadyn Proctor. I said yes. He said, ‘Well, you f’in suck.’ To my face. That’s a tough thing to go through…I don’t think people understand how tough it is.”

Playing in the south, specifically at a school like Alabama, where it’s championship-or-bust, always adds a lot of pressure. Although there have always been rabid fans who have said inappropriate things towards players, many feel even more inclined to make their voices heard now that players are being paid (publicly).

As Proctor points out, unless you’re actually in, it’s tough to see just exactly how entitled some fans are.

Kadyn Proctor Scouting Report

Here is Proctor’s scouting report from PFSN’s Mock Draft Simulator: “Kadyn Proctor is a mammoth offensive lineman, and the next in a long line of Alabama blockers who’ve made the NFL leap. The question is which position he’ll usettle in at long-term.

“At 6’6”, 369 pounds, Proctor is a true outlier who plays with domineering size and power. His hand power and torque can be overwhelming for solo defenders, and his anchor can be suffocating against opposing power rushes. Naturally, Proctor doesn’t have elite range, mobility, or flexibility, and he could stand to trim down his weight at the professional level. In particular, his range and flexibility proved to be consistent issues against speed rushers on the outside in 2025.

“Proctor does flash inspiring foot speed for his size, and he’s technically sound for his age, with smooth and efficient footwork, and a strong sense of timing and precision as a hand fighter. Those elements could allow him to stick at OT as a quality starter, but he has impact starter upside inside at guard, where he resembles a prime Leonard Davis with his throttling hand power, devastating torque, and suffocating anchor strength.”

Proctor is currently the 30th-ranked prospect on PFSN’s big board. The NFL Draft gets underway on Thursday, April 23, and it will be interesting to see if Proctor is selected in the first round or if he’ll have to wait until day two to hear his name called.
