Red Flag Raised Over Kalen DeBoer’s Alabama as Ty Simpson Issue Threatens Missouri Game

One college football analyst recently revealed his Week 7 picks, where he shared why he believes Kalen DeBoer’s Alabama and quarterback Ty Simpson could struggle against the Missouri Tigers.

Following a shocking loss to Florida State in Week 1, the Crimson Tide have emerged as what some consider to be the clear best team in the SEC under DeBoer, with Simpson in the conversation for the Heisman trophy, passing for 1,478 yards, 13 TDs, and 1 INT. However, one analyst feels that there may be some hidden red flags.

Could Kalen DeBoer’s Alabama Have an Achilles Heel?

During his most recent predictions, Fox Sports analyst Joel Klatt shockingly revealed why he believes the Crimson Tide could struggle against Missouri, suggesting that the Tigers should be the favorites going into the Week 7 matchup.

“If you just strip away the logos on the helmet, take away the names of the teams, you would never favor Alabama; the matchup favors Missouri, in just every category.” Klatt shockingly claimed as he revealed his pick.

With the Tigers coming off a bye week, they currently sit at 5-0, with quarterback Beau Pribula throwing for 1,203 yards, 9 TD’s and 3 INT’s, as well as Running Back Ahmad Hardy rushing for 730 yards and 9 TD’s in the third-best rushing attack in the nation.

In comparison, under DeBoer, with their quarterback being in the conversation for the Heisman, the Crimson Tide’s leading Rusher is Jamarion Miller, who has run for just 182 yards and 1 TD, which led to criticism from the Fox analyst.

“And I’ve been warning about this with Alabama, Alabama is somewhat one-dimensional throwing the football, and they’re going to come up against a team where all of a sudden, Ty Simpson is under duress, and all of a sudden that passing game cannot be as efficient.”

“And then where do you go? Even though they ran it better against Vanderbilt, it still wasn’t great. I think it was under 4 YPC if I’m not mistaken, so I like Missouri in this game. Missouri should be the favored team; the matchup favors the Tigers.” Klatt concluded.

The Crimson Tide will also have to worry about Missouri offensively, as Alabama allowed 113 rushing yards and a touchdown on five carries in the first 15 minutes against Vanderbilt.

However, following the disastrous opening quarter against the Commodores, defensive coordinator Kane Wommack managed to lock down the Vanderbilt run game, which recorded just 22 rushing yards on 14 carries for the rest of the game.

“I told our coaches, in those situations, put the iPads down, take your headset off, and let’s make sure we get our guys playing really fast and physical,” The defensive coordinator explained following his team’s victory.

“But at the end of the day, the physicality and violence we were able to play with is the reason why we were able to knock out the run Saturday. That has to continue.” Wommack elaborated further as he prepares to try to shut down Hardy this weekend.

Wommack, Simpson, and DeBoer will be welcomed to Faurot Field at 12 p.m. EST, with the game being televised live on ABC, where you can find out if Klatt’s bold predictions came true.
