Former Notre Dame running back Jeremiyah Love has been one of the biggest risers in the NFL Draft process after stellar performances in the NFL Draft Combine in Indianapolis in February. Love is expected to be the first running back off the board on draft night after a stellar season saw him finish on the podium in the Heisman Trophy race.
Jeremiyah Love Clarifies His Relationship With Hannah Hidalgo
During Tuesday’s segment of the “Sports Illustrated” podcast’s “10 Burning Questions,” Love revealed that he shares a strictly platonic relationship with Notre Dame women’s basketball star Hannah Hidalgo when asked who had more aura between the two of them.
“I don’t really think I have any aura for real, I would say Hannah,” Love said. “Hannah’s got some aura, I see her and I say, ‘There goes Hannah Hidalgo.’ We’ve crossed paths before. She’s a really cool person. I’ve never really talked to her, like had a full-blown conversation with her.
“But I spoke to her a couple of times, but just kept it brief. I kept it strictly friends, you could say.”
Hidalgo had a stellar season in South Bend, becoming the first player in history to win both the ACC Player of the Year and ACC Defensive Player of the Year in back-to-back seasons, including winning the Naismith Defensive Player of the Year. She opted out of the WNBA Draft to return to Notre Dame for an extra season.
Why the Chiefs Could Target Love in the NFL Draft
During this week’s segment of “The Joel Klatt Show”, NFL Network draft guru Daniel Jeremiah linked the Kansas City Chiefs with a move for Love should he fall as far as No. 9 on draft night.
“If Jeremiyah Love is there, I think all bets are off,” Jeremiah said. “(Kenneth) Walker was him and (Zach) Charbonnet. That was a tag team group there in Seattle. You’d like to have more than one (running) back, and it’s like, oh, this is electric. Love is like a legit slot receiver. If you wanted to put him out there, he can go out there.”
“You can make a case he might be the best slot, probably the best slot receiver in this draft, to keep the theme alive,” Jeremiah said. “Think about the creativity, the screen games, the fun coming back to the Kansas City offense, and the biggest point of all is just the Mahomes thing … Coming off that injury, let’s take the load off of him a little bit.”
The Chiefs bolstered their running backs room by signing free agent Kenneth Walker III, who was just named the Super Bowl LX MVP after he led the Seattle Seahawks to a dominant win over the New England Patriots in February.
Last season, Love earned a PFSN College Running Back Impact score of 92.4 after tallying 1,372 rushing yards on 199 carries, resulting in 18 touchdowns, while adding 280 receiving yards on 27 receptions, resulting in 3 touchdowns for the Fighting Irish.
