No. 17 Texas Tech quarterback Behren Morton left Saturday’s matchup against No. 16 Utah after taking a hard hit to the head in the third quarter. The hit occurred on a scramble when a Utah defender’s shoulder made contact with Morton’s helmet.
Though the play was deemed legal, the impact sent Morton to the locker room for further evaluation, raising concerns about a possible concussion.

This was the second time Morton left the game, as he briefly exited in the first half for two plays before returning. His departure in the third quarter forced backup quarterback Will Hammond to take over with Texas Tech leading 10-3 and 12:19 remaining in the quarter

Morton’s health is critical for the Red Raiders’ 2025 campaign. Entering his senior season, he already ranks in the top 10 of several categories in the Texas Tech record books, including completions (574), touchdown passes (49), passing yards (6,209), and total offense (6,284 yards).
