Indiana’s Aiden Fisher Fires Back at Cheating Claims — ‘Kind of Ridiculous’

Indiana Hoosiers linebacker Aiden Fisher dismissed claims that the program was cheating to dominate college football.

The No. 1 Indiana Hoosiers have blown away top-10 opposition during the College Football Playoff to swagger their way to a national championship game against the No. 10 Miami Hurricanes. In their last four games, including games against No. 5 Oregon, No. 9 Alabama and No. 2 Ohio State, the Hoosiers have outscored their opponents 163-38.

The Hoosiers’ dominance this season led to some college football fans on X theorizing that they had advanced knowledge of opponents’ offensive schemes via hacking into the VEO/Pixelot software.

Aiden Fisher Dismisses Indiana Cheating Claims

While speaking to reporters on Tuesday, linebacker Aiden Fisher addressed the claims about the Hoosiers knowing how certain teams run plays that have fueled the claims about them cheating in games.

“I’ve seen all the different stuff about our team,” Fisher said. “It’s kind of ridiculous to me, we watch film, we study, we prepare. I know a lot of people have put a lot of different things out, but we’re just doing a good job preparing. We have things we see in our preparation, and we have the best defensive coordinator in college football.”

Cignetti’s starting lineup in the Peach Bowl against Oregon contained five players who followed him from James Madison, including one who had committed to the Dukes before switching to the Hoosiers when he departed.

In addition, Cignetti fielded prospects from Navy and Texas State and nine transfers, including quarterback Fernando Mendoza, from different Power Four conferences, while the rest of the players in the roster had played for the program for their whole careers, shattering the myth of a team built by NIL money.

College Football Addresses Hoosiers’ Cheating Claims

An anonymous coach whose team played against the Hoosiers this season addressed the claims about the Big Ten champions cheating during an interview with Sports Illustrated’s Pat Forde

“I think it’s asinine,” the anonymous coach said. “I just think they’re really f***ing good. I didn’t see anything when they played us other than really good players who are really well-coached.

“I didn’t see their game against Ohio State [in the Big Ten championship], but I went back and watched the all-22 [game film], and they just whipped ’em up front. Those interior guys on the D-line get no credit, but they’re really good. And the O-line is dominating. There’s nothing suspicious about winning up front.”

With several programs in college football receiving heavy backing from wealthy boosters, Indiana alumnus and billionaire Mark Cuban made his first direct contribution to the athletics department in Dec. 2024 after Cignetti had led the Hoosiers to an 11-2 season.

In an interview with “Front Office Sports” on Jan. 7, Cuban revealed that the Hoosiers’ current success had loosened the purse strings further to aid their current upward trajectory in college football.

Despite navigating the College Football Playoff, Indiana has already landed the services of former TCU quarterback Josh Hoover to replace the outgoing Fernando Mendoza as Cignetti seeks to keep the good times rolling in Bloomington.
