Will Florida’s Brendan Bett Be Suspended After Ejection vs. USF? The Latest After Bizarre Spitting Incident

Florida defensive lineman Brendan Bett was ejected for spitting on a USF player, but will he face a suspension after the bizarre incident?

The NFL season kicked off Thursday with a clash between NFC East rivals, the Dallas Cowboys and the Philadelphia Eagles. Before the Cowboys even took their first offensive snap, Eagles star defensive tackle Jalen Carter was caught spitting on quarterback Dak Prescott, which led to his ejection.

Spitting seems to be turning into a trend. In Florida’s matchup against USF today, Gators defensive lineman Brendan Bett was also ejected for spitting on a Bulls player. Given what happened to Carter, should Florida fans expect Bett to face a suspension?

Will Brendan Bett Be Suspended After Ejection For Spitting?

On top of the No. 13 Gators falling to unranked USF on Saturday, defensive lineman Brendan Bett was ejected for spitting on a Bulls player in what has become the latest viral saliva-related moment in football.

With Bett tossed from the game, questions have started to surface about his availability in the coming weeks. Spitting on an opponent could be viewed as severe enough for the NCAA to take action against the redshirt sophomore.

Eagles star Jalen Carter was ejected for a similar incident on Thursday Night Football, but won’t face a suspension from the NFL. Based on that, it seems unlikely Bett will be suspended, though it’s worth noting that the NCAA and NFL operate under different rules, meaning discipline is still possible.

Bett transferred to Florida from Baylor ahead of this season. He saw action in just one game in 2024 but put together a solid true freshman campaign in 2023 despite limited snaps. A three-star prospect and the No. 107 defensive lineman in the transfer portal, Bett has served as a rotational piece on the Gators’ defensive line thus far in 2025.

Bett stands at 6’5”, 308 pounds, and brings valuable size to Florida’s defensive front. He is expected to play a key role in stopping the run this season. If he were suspended, it would have a noticeable impact on the Gators’ defensive line for as long as he is out.

The NCAA is generally stricter than the NFL when it comes to discipline, so it’s plausible that Bett could be suspended for multiple games. It’s a situation to keep an eye on as the Gators regroup from their devastating loss to USF.

Bett’s status going forward remains unclear, and there’s a real chance he could miss Florida’s next matchup on Saturday, September 13, 2025, against No. 3 LSU. It is a game where the Gators would certainly benefit from having him on the field.

Florida coach Billy Napier should be suspended for not coaching. Thats the second time in 3 years that a Gator football player has spit on the opposing team. Stop recruiting low IQ players and start coaching to win.

    Thank you

If Napier has any sense about himself then he will just remove this dude from the team.

Don’t wait for NCAA action. Kick him off the program and remove his scholarship.
