Notre Dame head coach Marcus Freeman continues to impress on the recruiting trail, securing a commitment from four-star wide receiver Kaydon Finley.

Finley, the standout from Texas and son of former NFL and Longhorns tight end Jermichael Finley, picked the Irish after taking official visits to Notre Dame, Texas, Texas A&M, and Arizona State this spring. His decision comes as a major recruiting win over in-state powers.

Marcus Freeman’s Hot Streak Continues As Kaydon Finley Chooses Notre Dame

Freeman has once again delivered a major recruiting victory for Notre Dame, landing four-star wide receiver Kaydon Finley. Finley gives Notre Dame its 23rd commitment in the 2026 class and its third at the wide receiver position.

Finley, ranked No. 120 overall and No. 14 among wide receivers in the nation by On3, said his official visit from June 13 to 15 sealed the deal.

“When I really knew Notre Dame was where I wanted to be was on my official visit,” he said. “That set it in stone, for sure.”

Finley’s commitment ignited flurry of reactions from fans.

“ND’s recruiting is on a completely different level in the Freeman era. What a class he’s putting together,” a fan said.

“The Best In Texas leave Texas ☘️☘️ we don’t stay!,” another said.

“Marcus Freeman taking Notre Dame recruiting to a DIFFERENT level 🔥,” another quipped.

Finley was one of 21 official visitors that weekend and credited the camaraderie among fellow recruits and the player-coach dynamic as deciding factors.

“The recruits they brought in that weekend was a special thing,” Finley told ESPN. “Notre Dame doesn’t just recruit any type of player. You have to be a special person to be able to go there.

“Notre Dame is just different. They recruit a certain type of kid. You have to be a special football player and person. I had a great time at Texas, but it didn’t feel as good as Notre Dame.”

Freeman, along with offensive coordinator Mike Denbrock and receivers coach Mike Brown, was deeply involved in Finley’s recruitment since his sophomore year.

Finley, who stands just above six feet tall and weighs 200 pounds, is regarded for his polished route running, reliable hands, and ability to play both outside and in the slot. In three seasons at Aledo High School, he recorded 148 catches for 2,552 yards and scored 34 touchdowns.

His junior year alone included 81 catches, 1,432 yards, and 21 touchdowns, along with nine 100-yard games. A two-time state champion, Finley will graduate in December and enroll at Notre Dame in January.
