The 2026 recruiting cycle is in full swing, and schools are battling to get commitments from the class’s top players.
NIL packages and official visits are usually how programs get players to commit to their schools. Still, sometimes, it takes a push from another commit to finally win a recruitment, and that’s what Texas’ 2026 quarterback commit Dia Bell is doing to try and land one of the best receivers in the class.
Dia Bell is Pushing for Texas to Land Kaydon Finley
Dia Bell committed to Texas back in June of last year. Bell is a consensus five-star and ranked 247Sports’ fifth-best quarterback and 24th overall player in the 2026 class.
Bell has been committed to the Longhorns for over a year and is already showing his Texas pride. According to Steve Wiltfong on the “Wiltfong Whiparound” show, the young quarterback is pushing for the Longhorns to land four-star wide receiver Kaydon Finley.
“Dia Bell, I saw him at the Elite 11 Finals this week. He’s like ‘I think Kaydon and I could do special things together.’ He can’t wait to get around Kaydon Finley this weekend,” Wiltfong said.
Finley is ranked as 247Sports’ 216th player in the country and the 33rd best receiver in the class. As Wiltfong mentions, both Bell and Finley are on campus in Austin this weekend for their official visits with the Longhorns.
Bell is looking for Texas to add Finley to their 2026 class this weekend, as the Longhorns have yet to sign a four-star or higher wideout to pair with Bell in this class.
Bell clearly wants to go to Texas alongside a top target to build chemistry with, and Finley could end up choosing the Longhorns by the end of the weekend if both Bell and head coach Steve Sarkisian can get a commitment out of him.
Finley is a Texas native, but as of right now, both 247Sports and On3 are predicting the young receiver to choose Notre Dame over the Longhorns. However, Texas is the last official visit that Finley has scheduled, which gives them a distinct advantage in landing him.
With Bell on campus, Texas has a bigger boost, as it sounds like he is doing everything in his power to convince Finley to join him in Austin.
Finley will regroup after his official visit with Texas and announce his commitment on July 4. It’ll be interesting to see where he lands, and despite analysts currently predicting Notre Dame, it sounds like Texas might make enough of a surge to get Finley in the end.
