Ms. Peggy Coppom, the Colorado University Buffaloes’ Superfan, experienced an unexpected thrill and a half when the coaches gave her a “gold ticket” for the basketball games of the 2025-2026 season.
This heart-moving story is another example of Deion Sanders’ program showing respect and gratitude to its faithful followers. Miss Peggy has been a loyal supporter of the team since the 1940s and has been a regular at the games ever since.

The Colorado Buffaloes made headlines this week with a special surprise for their most dedicated fan. Basketball coaches JR Payne and Tad Boyle visited Miss Peggy at her home to present her with what they called a “golden ticket” – a full season pass to both men’s and women’s basketball games for 2025-26.
The Colorado Buffaloes Instagram post captured the emotional moment with the caption: “Peggy’s golden ticket Coach Payne & Coach Boyle presented Miss Peggy with her 2025-26 season pass to @cubuffswbb & @cubuffsmbb.”

In the heartwarming video, the coaches can be heard saying, “So, Coach Tad and I are here to present you with what we’re calling a golden ticket. And this is your very special pass. You’re the only one who gets it for your season tickets for men’s and women’s basketball this year.”
Miss Peggy responded with gratitude, while the coaches assured her, “And we’re going to see you at all the games, right? Yeah, you will. We love you.” A week after Colorado two-way star Travis Hunter won the Heisman Trophy, Miss Peggy hit the pose next to the trophy. Peggy Coppom, the 100-year-old Colorado superfan, has attended Buffaloes games since the 1940s.
She was present for the program’s Valero Alamo Bowl send-off Saturday, where she posed next to the Heisman Trophy and struck the famous stance, just like Hunter did throughout the season.

Coppom developed a friendship with head football coach Deion Sanders during the 2023 season. Sanders promised Coppom he would get her to a bowl game for her 100th birthday, which came true earlier this season. The No. 23 Buffaloes met No. 17 BYU on December 28 in San Antonio.
Colorado fans serenaded the 100-year-old with a “Happy Birthday” rendition last month during their win against Utah. On her birthday, she joined Sanders in a news conference, with the head coach announcing that the Buffaloes would be launching a special line of apparel for Coppom.
“She is the epitome of CU Buffs. She’s the epitome of Buff Nation,” Sanders said. “She is the rock that holds us all together, and I’m thankful to know her. I really am”.
After the Buffaloes clinched a bowl game, Sanders said Coppom meant “so much” to the program and was pleased to honor his promise. “Now we’ve just gotta get a private plane to make sure she’s comfortable on the way there,” Sanders said. “Yeah, we ain’t putting Peggy on a regular plane, I promise you that”.
Fans cheer, legends inspire. For the Buffs, Coppom is both.
