With it being early January, most college football teams have completed their seasons. Many teams and head coaches, however, are busy dealing with players either entering or exiting the transfer portal.
All of this activity might lead some college football fans to wonder if there’s even a football game taking place right now.
Is There A College Football Game Tonight?
For college football fans still looking for a fix, they are in luck. Right now, the College Football Playoff semifinals are taking place. On Thursday night, No. 10-ranked Miami defeated No. 6-ranked Ole Miss 31-27 to win the Vrbo Fiesta Bowl and advance to the College Football Playoff championship.
Yet, there is another game on the schedule for tonight. College football fans can tune in to watch the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl, which takes place at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta. The kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET, and the game will be broadcast on ESPN.

Who, though, is playing in the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl, which is another College Football Playoff semifinal? Fans can watch Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback Fernando Mendoza and the top-ranked Indiana Hoosiers duke it out with quarterback Dante Moore and the No. 5-ranked Oregon Ducks.
According to the PFSN CFB QB Impact metrics, which measure a quarterback’s impact up to the end of the regular season, Mendoza had an impact score of 93.3 and graded out with an A. What about Moore? He had an impact score of 85.9 and received a grade of B.
The Hoosiers come into the game with a perfect 14-0 record this season, while the Ducks are not too shabby at 13-1 overall. Who will call the game for ESPN? Veteran ESPN college football announcer Sean McDonough will handle play-by-play duties. Greg McElroy will be the game analyst alongside McDonough in the booth. As for sideline reporters, Katie George and Molly McGrath will handle those duties.

This College Football Playoff semifinal, on paper, looks to be a dandy of a matchup. Indiana head coach Curt Cignetti has turned around a once-awful football program into the best team in the nation. Oregon head coach Dan Lanning is no slouch himself. Look for Cignetti and Lanning to both have their teams ready to go at kickoff.
Indiana and Oregon are vying for the final spot in the College Football Playoff championship game, which will take place at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Fla., on Monday, Jan. 19, at 7:30 p.m. ET and will be shown on ESPN. Yes, it will be a home game of sorts for the Hurricanes, so expect a pro-Miami crowd to fill the stadium.
