Week 10 of the college football season has ended, and the College Football Playoff selection committee is set to reveal its newest top 25 rankings for the 2025 season. The committee will release its first poll of the season on Tuesday, marking the start of the playoff race.
With eyes set on the rankings, schools are preparing for their next games. However, some programs are enjoying the Week 11 bye.
#1 Oklahoma Sooners
Oklahoma secured a 33-27 win over the Tennessee Volunteers on Saturday night. The win allowed the Sooners to bounce back after a 26-14 loss to the Ole Miss Rebels on Oct. 26.
No team in the country climbed higher in the AP poll on Sunday than the Sooners, as they rose seven spots to No. 11 following the win over Josh Heupel’s squad. They are one place higher in the AP poll than they are in the US LBM Coaches Poll.
Brent Venables’ squad has a Week 11 bye before facing another tough road test. Oklahoma will travel to Tuscaloosa to take on the No. 4 Alabama Crimson Tide on Nov. 15. Kalen DeBoer’s program is 7-1 this season and enjoyed a bye last week.
#2 Arizona State Sun Devils
Arizona State pulled off a 24-19 win over the Iowa State Cyclones in Ames on Saturday. The win improved the Sun Devils’ record to 6-3 this season. Also, it drew the attention of a handful of AP voters, as they received four votes in the latest top 25 rankings.
ASU is unofficially in a three-way tie for No. 34 in the nation with Illinois and LSU. This comes after the Sun Devils received no poll votes last week following their 24-16 loss to Houston on Oct. 25.
The Sun Devils are off this week and will face West Virginia on Nov. 15 at Mountain America Stadium. West Virginia is 3-6 this season, with a 1-5 record in Big 12 play.
#3 Michigan Wolverines
Sherrone Moore’s Michigan beat Purdue 21-16 on Saturday night and improved to 7-2 this season, including 5-1 in Big Ten play. However, the Wolverines saw no movement in this week’s AP poll and remained No. 21.
Michigan is on a bye this week and will travel to face Northwestern on Nov. 15. Northwestern is 5-3 overall this season, with a 3-2 record in the Big Ten.
#4 Texas Longhorns
Steve Sarkisian’s Texas pulled off a 34-31 win over Vanderbilt on Saturday, moving up seven spots to No. 13 in the Week 11 AP Poll.
With the resurgence of Arch Manning, these back-to-back wins could push the Longhorns back into College Football Playoff contention. They are off this week and will face a tough road game against the Georgia Bulldogs on Nov. 15.
Kirby Smart’s team is 7-1 this season, with a 5-1 record in the Southeastern Conference.
