CBS analyst Damien Harris questioned star Alabama wide receiver Ryan Williams’ recent performance, but the Crimson Tide star had the perfect response.
Williams silenced his critics with a dominant showing against Wisconsin, proving he’s still one of college football’s most dangerous weapons.
Ryan Williams Shows Up and Shuts Down Critics
CBS analyst and Alabama Alum Damien Harris didn’t hold back on Saturday.
“Where the hell is Ryan Williams?” Harris said. “Do we need to put out a missing person report? Do we need to alert the authorities because my brother — I’m going to go back to the Florida State game because that’s the only tape I’ve got of you so far. He hasn’t had a 100-yard game since Georgia.”
Harris continued, “He hasn’t had a touchdown since, what was it, Mercer last year? I mean, we’re going back five, six, seven, eight. All the way back to the Georgia game last year. To me, he looked out of shape, bigger than what he needed to be, and he didn’t look confident.”

Harris, who played under legendary coach Nick Saban at Alabama from 2015 through 2018, tallied 3,070 yards and 23 touchdowns over his four-year career. He was also a part of two national championship squads.
College football fans quickly jumped on Harris’s comments as Williams performed well against Wisconsin’s defense. Social media exploded with reactions to the CBS analyst’s poor timing.
“Aged like milk,” one user commented as Williams piled up yards.
Another fan responded, “He just shut him up. Get Ryan open, and he’s going to dominate.”

As Williams continued his impressive performance, more fans chimed in. “He has 124 and a TD at HT.. he’s chillin,” one user noted about his first-half stats.
Another observer said, “Well he’s doing good today so far so I’d say for a first game back he’s doing pretty good.”
Perhaps the most direct response came from a fan who simply stated, “Welp, there he is.”

As PFSN analyst Ian Cummings writes, “When Ryan Williams is on, he’s near-impossible to defend. He has the start-and-stop to leave opponents lurching both as a separator and RAC threat, and he has the body control and balance of a ballerina on the move.”
He continued, “His hands need to improve before any DeVonta Smith comps have merit, but few WRs to come out in recent years can match the natural feel and control amidst chaos that Williams boasts.”
Williams’ explosive return proved that sometimes the best response to criticism is letting your play do the talking. While Williams and the Tide are still playing, halfway through the fourth quarter, he has caught five balls for 165 yards and two touchdowns. He did register a few drops, one of which would’ve been his third score, but it’s still a brash stat line.
