With Carnell Tate’s college career being over, he is looking ahead to his next chapter in the NFL. As an Ohio State Buckeye, Tate put together quite a career. Coming off his junior season, Tate finished in the top 50 in receiving yards but in the top 20 in touchdowns, which has elevated his draft stock. As of today, he is the 4th-ranked prospect on our NFL Draft Big Board.
What Was Carnell Tate’s Shocking Wish As NFL Draft Looms?
With so many different destinations being predicted for Tate as he prepares to be selected in the upcoming NFL Draft, all kinds of scenarios are possible.
In an interview on “Downs 2 Business,” Tate expressed a shocking wishful destination to begin his NFL career when he was asked where he would like to play.
“I just wanna go somewhere that’s targeting me. As a receiver, I’d love to go play with Josh Allen. He can get you the ball, he’s experienced,” Tate replied.
Since the Buffalo Bills don’t make their first-round selection until the 26th overall pick, this scenario is unlikely. The only way Tate could end up in a Bills uniform is if they trade up into the top 5. Tate also added that he believes that “Tyler has been balling in New Orleans,” referring to New Orleans Saints quarterback Tyler Shough.
As a destination, the Saints are more realistic as a potential home for Tate, as they possess the 8th overall pick. If they were to make a trade to move up to select Tate, they wouldn’t need to trade as much to move up a few spots.

Shough threw for 2,384 yards last season, which was 25th in the NFL, but not terrible for a first-year starter. Without taking Tate’s statement too far out of context, he was likely just saying that going to a team with an experienced quarterback would be an ideal fit for him.
Tate’s Releases Bold Statement About Indiana
In addition to his NFL Draft wish, Tate also made a bold statement regarding the National Champion Indiana Hoosiers. Last month, the Hoosiers defeated the Buckeyes 13-10 to capture a Big Ten Championship.
Ohio State would follow that up with a loss to the Miami Hurricanes in the CFB Playoff to end their season. Tate and Caleb Downs were asked during an episode of Downs 2 Business whether, if they were to play Indiana again, they would win, and their reply was “Yes.”
Their initial meeting in the Big Ten title game was an ugly one offensively. Tate finished with four catches for 45 yards and a touchdown. Downs finished with six tackles in the loss for the Buckeyes. It’s hard to say, but very bold of them to say so, considering Indiana went undefeated, including beating them, followed by them losing to the team that Indiana beat for the Championship in the first matchup of the CFB Playoff.
