It was a scary scene in South Bend, Indiana.
No. 16 Texas A&M safety Bryce Anderson was taken off the field on a stretcher after a tackle late in the second quarter left him facedown. The entire A&M team went over to him after the medical staff stabilized him on the stretcher. Anderson then left the Notre Dame stadium in an ambulance.
The Aggies ended up defeating the No. 8 Fighting Irish 41-40 in a game that came down to the last few seconds of the fourth quarter.

The Aggies also huddled together for a team prayer while the defensive player was down. Notre Dame’s program also took a knee.
As Anderson was being tended to, his pads, jersey, face mask, and helmet were removed. A neck brace was also placed on the Texas native. According to an aired third-quarter update, he is being taken to a nearby hospital for precautionary measures after he was springboarded.

It appears Anderson’s injury was sustained with 58 seconds remaining in the second half. He collided with senior Notre Dame tight end Eli Raridon.

Raridon stands at 6’7 and weighs 252 pounds. Anderson is also a senior and stands at 6′, weighing 190 pounds.
It is since being reported that Anderson has feelings in all of his limbs.
The game against Notre Dame (0-1) was viewed as a must-win for both teams, with the top 20 matchup also being one of the most anticipated games of Week 3. The Fighting Irish were fresh off their first bye week of the season.
A&M currently has a 3-0 start to the year under head coach Mike Elko. This latest win over the Fighting Irish was the Aggies’ first road-win over a ranked opponent since 2014.
The Aggies put up 328 total yards in the first half compared to Notre Dame’s 218. A&M quarterback Marcel Reed threw for 360 yards and two touchdowns on 17 completions by the end of the matchup.
Notre Dame’s signal caller, CJ Carr, made several mistakes throughout the first half, including getting sacked on a third down. Carr threw for 11 completions on 17 attempts and one touchdown in the first half.
A&M defeated UTSA 42-24 in the Aggies’ season opener and then took down Utah State 44-22 at Kyle Field. Following returning to College Station from Indiana, the Aggies will turn their attention to hosting current No. 24 Auburn on September 27 following their bye week.
