Netflix released the docuseries “Any Given Saturday” earlier this month, following the SEC throughout the 2024 college football season.
The show offered an inside look at the lives and operations of SEC coaches and players, but one of the standout moments came from LSU head coach Brian Kelly’s father, Paul Kelly, who predicted Ole Miss to win the national title. Brian recently responded to the comment, saying his dad isn’t welcome back at LSU.

“Any Given Saturday” had many great moments, but one of the best came early in episode one. The episode focused on the LSU Tigers, specifically following Brian Kelly. While hosting guests at his home ahead of the 2024 season, the cameras caught Kelly’s dad predicting that Ole Miss could win it all.
5 minutes into the first episode of the Netflix documentary… 🤦🏻

Hearing your dad predict a conference rival to win a national title is tough for any son, and Kelly addressed it on the “Paul Finebaum Show”. He joked that his father wouldn’t be allowed at LSU games in 2025, adding that he thinks his dad is a bigger fan of Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin than he is of him.

“Well, first my dad, who was a part of it, he talked about Ole Miss,” Kelly said. “I told him he’s not invited to any more games because he loves Lane Kiffin more than he loves me. And who could?”
It’s a funny moment from Kelly, who fans usually only get to see in a serious light, as he jokes about both his father and Kiffin. Kelly’s dad may have to rethink his Ole Miss pick for the 2025 season, as his son boasts one of the best squads in the SEC and is a serious national title contender.
The Tigers return 62% of their production from last year, including 65% on offense, highlighted by quarterback Garrett Nussmeier. They also added the No. 1-ranked transfer portal class in 2025, bringing even more talent to an already stacked roster.
Kelly and LSU went 9-4 in 2024, while Ole Miss finished ahead in the conference at 10-3, ranking 11th in the country. That could change this season, though, as LSU has improved and Ole Miss returns just 42% of its production from last year, ranking 113th among FBS schools.
LSU faces Ole Miss in Oxford on Saturday, September 27, 2025. While Kelly may not invite his father to the game, Kiffin, known as college football’s biggest troll, might just do it himself.
