Oregon, Texas A&M Battle for 2026’s Top Cornerback Brandon Arrington

Arrington is closing in on his college decision. The five-star standout from Mount Miguel High in Spring Valley, California, will announce his commitment on June 19, with Oregon and Texas A&M as his final two choices.

According to On3, Arrington is the country’s No. 9 overall prospect. A two-sport athlete, he has excelled on the football field and track, breaking age-group sprint records previously held by Olympic gold medalist Noah Lyles.

Arrington spoke with On3’s Josh Newberg about his connection with both programs.

“Oregon, just them recruiting me hard since my beginning year,” he said. “I just like the connection we have with Coach Ham, Coach Wadu, Coach Landy. That great connection.”

He also noted the consistency of Texas A&M’s efforts:

“I’ve been there like almost 10 times. Coach Oko, defensive head coach, great guy. Coach Peterson… it’s a great plan for me. That’s important to me. Development and just a plan. Just wanting me, so that was big for me.”

Head coach Mike Elko and his staff have made Arrington a clear priority, and he previously scheduled an official visit to College Station for this weekend.

“It is the people at A&M,” Arrington told On3. “They all want me and they recruit me hard. From the start, it never changed with A&M. They recruited me the same, they built relationships and how consistent they have been stands out.”

Oregon, meanwhile, hosted Arrington for an official visit the weekend of June 6.

“Everything was good,” his father told On3. “Great environment, great coaches… They came from Georgia and Alabama so you know they have that defensive pedigree.”

Arrington emphasized the relationships in Eugene, saying,

“With Oregon, it is about the relationships I have with Coach Hampton and Coach Tosh. We are close, and I am so cool with Coach Hampton. Coach Lanning always checks up on me, and that bond I have with the staff is so good.”

As a junior, Arrington tallied 57 receptions for 527 yards and five touchdowns, adding 26 tackles, three pass breakups, and one interception on defense.
