Boston College Football Ushers in a New Era with New Balance

Boston College Football made waves on social media by sharing a tweet that read, “The new era has begun.” The X post from @BCFootball showcased the team’s new uniforms for the upcoming season and marked the official transition from Adidas to New Balance.

It is the first FBS program with New Balance, a significant moment in BC’s history. They are now moving to the football field, thus opening a partnership established in 2021 and before for all the other varsity sports, which became even more powerful.

The post’s video illustrates the new design, which respects and modernizes the past with details such as sleeve stripes and a bold block logo. The response has been extremely positive because supporters and players agree that this combination of old-school and modern looks is right.

“Our players and staff are thrilled to represent two iconic brands, Boston College and New Balance. Being the only power conference college football program to align with a cutting-edge organization like New Balance is a great opportunity that sets us apart”.

Boston College’s relationship with New Balance began in 2021, making the brand the official supplier for all sports except football. The football program used Adidas from 2021 to 2024 and Under Armour for a decade before that. With the expanded deal, New Balance now fits all 31 varsity teams, including football, and introduces its first American football cleats.

Athletic Director Blake James illuminated local ties, saying, “Boston College is thrilled to grow in its relationship with New Balance… Our local connection to New Balance’s global brand serves to strengthen the foundation of this relationship.”

Ray Hilvert, New Balance’s vice president of sport and a BC alum, added:

“The addition of the Eagles Football program… is a testament to the strong collaboration and spirit of excellence that defines the Eagles, New Balance, and the City of Boston. Together, we are building a unique community that will inspire future generations of players, fans, and leaders”.

Boston College’s new 2025 football uniforms have elicited mixed fan reactions. The “Red Bandanna” designs are anticipated with excitement, as one fan noted, “Red bandanna uniforms are gonna go hard.”

But, some feel the overall look is too conservative, with comments like, “Looks very sensible. Like an accountant designed it.” The “Before vs. Before” comparison has also sparked debate on the uniforms’ evolution from the Adidas era.
