This season, Baylor has a 4-4 record. According to PFSN’s playoff meter, they are projected to miss bowl contention at the end of the season narrowly. They are projected to finish the season with a 6-5 record following Saturday’s 41-20 loss to Cincinnati.

Baylor Makes Major Staff Cut Following LSU’s Overhaul

Following their loss over the weekend, Baylor became the next team to make coaching changes. ESPN’s Pete Thamel reported that the Bears had decided to part ways with their offensive line coach. This has raised some question marks among fans.

“Baylor offensive line coach Mason Miller is no longer with the program. He’d spent two seasons with the Bears as the offensive line coach after coming over from Tarleton State.” Thamel shared.

This has raised some potential questions from fans. This season, according to PFSN’s CFB Team OL Impact Rankings, Baylor has one of the best Offensive Lines in the country. With an 86.9 impact score, they rank 10th overall in the nation this season based on OLine.

Before coming to Baylor, he was the offensive line coach at Mississippi State and Washington State. However, following their apparent struggles this season, he will be searching for a new job. Head Coach Dave Aranda hinted at the potential change over the weekend.

“So, we’ll continue to look at that. Every stone will be turned over to try to get the best that we can on the field.” Aranda revealed that, after the decision was made to bench veteran Sidney Fulgar.

This came after the announcement that  LSU would be moving on from its former head coach. It was also recently revealed that LSU would be firing its offensive coordinator, Joe Sloan, with Tight Ends Coach Alex Atkins set to take over for the former coordinator.

This season, Miller also helped develop two of the best Offensive Line players in the Big 12. Currently, Omar Aigbedion ranks 17th nationally with an 88.7 impact score. Meanwhile, Coleton Price also ranks 58th nationally with an 84.8 impact score.

However, after their slow start to the season, Baylor will be looking elsewhere to help their quarterback, Sawyer Robertson. This season, Robertson has been one of the best quarterbacks in college football, ranking 17th nationally after eight games.
