Where Do Arkansas and Texas Stand Heading Into Week 13?
Texas is 7-3 this season (4-2 in the SEC) after coming off a 35-10 loss against Georgia last weekend. That loss gave a major blow to the Longhorns’ College Football Playoff hopes, causing them to tumble seven spots in Tuesday’s rankings, from No. 10 to No. 17.
Some think Texas isn’t completely out of the picture, as wins over Arkansas this weekend and undefeated Texas A&M next week could still keep them in the conversation. ESPN’s FPI gives the Longhorns an 18.3%Â chance to reach the playoff, while the PFSN College FPM model lists their at-large chances at just 0.14%.
National analysts also remain skeptical, as FOX Sports’ Joel Klatt doesn’t see a realistic path for Texas, and ESPN’s Greg McElroy also believes the same.
“Well, the seven-spot drop, not looking like they’re going to have enough firepower to get back into the top-12 as the at-large,” McElroy said. “Even though that last game against Texas A&M, a top-three opponent, still won’t be enough to get into the field.”
Meanwhile, Arkansas comes in at 2-8 overall with a 0-6 mark in SEC play. The Razorbacks sit at the bottom of the conference, with six of their losses decided by six points or fewer.

Arkansas fired head coach Sam Pittman after five games, and offensive coordinator Bobby Petrino was named the interim head coach for the remainder of the season. However, the Razorbacks’ losing streak continues, with their latest 23-22Â loss coming against LSU last weekend.
Arkansas’ last 56-14 win against Arkansas State came more than two months ago on September 6. Manning’s Texas is expected to pull the win in today’s game, but the Razorbacks can also pick up an upset win, given the Longhorns’ struggle in some areas this season.
