Texas QB Arch Manning Hype ‘Surpasses Tim Tebow,’ Draws NBA Star LeBron James-Level Buzz Ahead of 2025 Season

Arch Manning leads Texas in 2025 with big expectations, and some analysts say the hype is even bigger Tim Tebow and LeBron James' at their peak.

It’s 2025, and all the attention in college football is on Texas Longhorns quarterback Arch Manning. Thanks to his famous last name and standout talent, Manning has become the face of the sport’s next generation.

He’s talked about so much that some experts say the hype around him rivals, and in some cases surpasses, the buzz that once surrounded college football legend Tim Tebow or NBA star LeBron James at the height of their fame.

Arch Manning Hype Pressure and the Making of a College Football Icon

The hype around Manning is off the charts, as co-hosts Lance Taylor and Ryan Brown discussed on a recent episode of “The Next Round” podcast.

“The hype around him is crazy. Texas is a legitimate national championship contender; they’re probably the favorite if Manning plays well. But man, the hype around this guy… we see something on Arch Manning almost every day… every day there’s something out there on Arch,” the co-hosts said.

The nonstop media attention has pushed Manning into rare territory in college sports, with analysts openly comparing him to Tebow’s sophomore return to Florida or James entering the NBA straight out of high school.

That puts Manning in elite company. Both Tebow and James were generational talents who changed the way their sports were viewed.

Manning’s hype isn’t just about his family’s NFL legacy. For the past two years, he backed up current Miami Dolphins rookie quarterback Quinn Ewers. Now, Manning is set to take over as Texas’ lead signal-caller.

Despite starting just two college games, his 6-foot-4, 215-pound frame and arm talent have scouts projecting him as a top contender for the 2025 Heisman Trophy and the likely No. 1 pick in the 2026 NFL Draft.

His impact is already clear. Texas enters the season as a national title favorite, with many experts ranking them No. 1. The pressure is sky-high, but so is the upside.

“There would be so much more talk about [Texas freshman quarterback Bryce] Underwood and so much more pressure if it wasn’t for Arch Manning,” Taylor said. “I think it surpasses Tim Tebow coming back for his sophomore year. I think it is right up there with LeBron James coming into the NBA. I think that’s the type of hype we’re getting right now.”

As the 2025 season kicks off, all eyes will be on Manning to see if he can live up to the hype, and maybe even change what it means to be a college football superstar.
