Alabama Gains Major Steam for Auburn Star Cam Coleman After Social Media Antics

Analyst Lance Taylor predicted that the Alabama Crimson Tide would land the services of Auburn Tigers wide receiver Cam Coleman.

Auburn wide receiver Cam Coleman has hogged the headlines since he decided to enter the transfer portal last week. Coleman logged 56 receptions, resulting in 708 yards and five touchdowns for the Tigers this season, and had a 75.2 College Wide Receivers Impact grade according to PFSN.

Coleman is one of the most highly rated wide receivers in the bloated transfer portal that opened on Jan. 2 and will close on Jan. 16.

Analyst Predicts Cam Coleman to Alabama

After being blown out by the Indiana Hoosiers in the Rose Bowl last week, Alabama coach Kalen DeBoer’s Crimson Tide entered the Coleman sweepstakes. Despite the Iron Bowl rivalry with the Crimson Tide, Coleman stoked the fires of the move when he followed the Bama coach on Instagram yesterday, before promptly unfollowing him.

During Friday’s segment of the “Next Round” podcast, analyst Lance Taylor predicted that Coleman would end up at Alabama, despite the reported $2 million fee that he would command on the open market.

“The experience with the receivers this year, Ryan Williams completely disappearing at times. Germ (Bernard) battling the injuries and wasn’t even close to himself in the latter part of the season,” Taylor said. “I think Cam Coleman will end up in Tuscaloosa. I do think his asking price is more than Alabama wants to spend, but you gotta get creative.

“If you really wanna jab your cross-state rival, but you call up another name that has a million dollars lying around and say, ‘Hey, we can get Cam Coleman.’ If I’m Derrick Nix, you can’t understate that relationship. ”

After entering the portal, Coleman has reportedly visited the Texas A&M Aggies, Texas Longhorns, and Texas Tech Red Raiders as he hunts for a new program.

On3 Analyst Reveals the Battle for Coleman’s Services

The Crimson Tide’s wide receiver room is light after Isaiah Horton entered the transfer portal, while experienced star Germie Bernard declared for the 2026 NFL Draft after a mixed season in Tuscaloosa, therefore, DeBoer’s focus on Coleman’s services.

During Thursday’s segment of the “Crane & Cone” podcast, On3 reporter Pete Nakos gave the state of play when it comes to the battle for Coleman’s services.

“Alabama is expecting him later in the week,” Nakos said. “I would say it’s wide open. Texas feels good, A&M feels good. Tech feels good because they’re gonna put a huge offer on the table. It’s not all about money for Cam Coleman.”

One factor working in the Crimson Tide’s favor is that DeBoer hired former Auburn offensive coordinator Derrick Nix as Alabama’s wide receivers coach on Wednesday. For two seasons in the Plains, Coleman thrived under Nix, totaling 1,306 yards on 93 receptions, resulting in 13 touchdowns.
