Nick Saban’s Daughter Reacts As Alabama Faces Backlash for Laughing at Kneeling FSU Players

Nick Saban’s daughter called out Alabama Crimson Tide players after Yhonzae Pierre and Edric Hill were caught laughing during the viral Florida State loss.

The energy in Tuscaloosa was anything but calm after Alabama’s Week 1 clash with Florida State. Fans expected disappointment after the loss, but what really set off a firestorm was how some Crimson Tide players handled the final moments.

Why were a few players caught laughing instead of showing they cared about the result? That one moment left everyone– alumni, die-hards, and even Nick Saban’s family– wondering what’s up with this year’s squad.

Why Did Kristen Saban React to Alabama Players Laughing at Kneeling Florida State Opponents?

Alabama rolled into the 2025 season holding the No. 8 spot in national rankings, with dreams of an SEC title and a shot at the College Football Playoff. The expectations were sky high. However, their first test against Florida State didn’t go as planned. The Crimson Tide fell, 31–17, in a game that stunned fans. The real drama didn’t hit until after the final whistle.

A now-viral video posted by bamasports showed Alabama players Yhonzae Pierre and Edric Hill laughing on the sideline while Florida State knelt to finish out the Saturday, Oct. 30 matchup. The sight didn’t sit well with the fan base, who saw it as lacking discipline and pride.

The reaction was swift. Kristen Saban, daughter of legendary former Alabama coach Nick Saban, didn’t hold back and simply replied, “jfc.” Other fans poured on the criticism in the comments.

One fan wrote, “This is the shit that pisses me off!! There’s no heart anymore.” Another added, “Sad and pathetic. Somehow, the videos that keep coming out keep getting worse.” A third said, “This team has a big problem. They’re not serious. They’re having too much fun on the field and not putting in the work.”

Can Yhonzae Pierre and Edric Hill Turn Their Alabama Careers Around in 2025?

Pierre, caught in the viral video, joined Alabama as one of the most-hyped recruits. He was a former five-star from Eufaula High School, ranked No. 1 in Alabama and No. 25 nationally in the 2023 class. Pierre picked the Crimson Tide in April 2022, hoping to become a force as an edge rusher. Up to now, the results haven’t matched the expectations.

Now in his third year, Pierre has played in 11 games, notching six tackles, one tackle for loss, and two pass deflections. Even with a slow start, there’s more buzz heading into 2025. This could be the year Pierre finally puts it together– if he stays focused throughout the season.

Hill, who was also seen laughing in the video, is in a similar spot. As a four-star from Missouri, he was rated No. 181 in the 2023 class and No. 17 among defensive linemen nationwide. Over two seasons, Hill has suited up 11 times and recorded four tackles. Heading into 2025, he may get a bigger chance in the defensive line rotation and see more action up front.

Both Pierre and Hill came to Alabama with loads of promise. But after the clip of them laughing during a tough loss made the rounds, fans aren’t just asking about their stats anymore; they’re wondering if they have the right mindset for the program.

It’s still only Week 1 in the 2025 season, which means there’s time for things to change. If Alabama wants to get back to championship form, young stars like Pierre and Hill have to step up– showing maturity, urgency, and real heart every snap.
