Is CeeDee Lamb Playing in Week 4? Latest on Cowboys WR’s Status for Game vs. Packers

With CeeDee Lamb's injury being a big concern for the Cowboys, will he return to play against the Packers? Know everything related to the injury.

The Dallas Cowboys have their work cut out for them as they enter their Week 4 game against the Green Bay Packers. They are coming off an embarrassing Week 3 loss to the Chicago Bears, and many questions have arisen about how competitive the Cowboys will be this season.

Their biggest issue has been on defense, where they have been one of the worst units in the league. They cannot get stops, and new defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus is taking a lot of heat for the ineffectiveness of his unit.

It appears that the Cowboys will need to outscore their opponent to win games, but even that may be an issue without their best player.

CeeDee Lamb to Miss a Few Weeks

To add insult to injury, the Cowboys’ All-Pro wide receiver CeeDee Lamb is expected to miss 2-4 weeks with a high-ankle sprain, via Ian Rapoport. On a run play in the first quarter of Week 3, Lamb was tackled awkwardly and was forced to leave the game.

The NFL posted on its official handle: “Cowboys WR CeeDee Lamb (high ankle sprain) will miss at least the next two games, not expected to go on IR” (via @RapSheet).

His absence was felt last week, and Dallas’ offense will take a hit without him against Green Bay. Even though losing Lamb is not ideal, the injury could have been much worse. If he only misses two games, the Cowboys should be able to survive without him.

Cowboys Offense Will Need to Adjust

The Cowboys will need to adjust their approach without Lamb. You could likely see them lean more on the run game, where they have had success this season. The resurgence of Javonte Williams has been massive for the offense, as they are already a significantly improved rushing team compared to last season.

Also, Lamb’s absence will open the door for George Pickens to take over the WR1 role. He was brought to Dallas to add another element to the passing game, and now, he will need to be the focal point.

Some other players the Cowboys could look to without Lamb are KaVontae Turpin and Jaydon Blue. Turpin is a deep threat thanks to his elite speed, and he has turned into a viable receiver option for Dallas this season.

As for Blue, he is a rookie who has yet to make his regular-season debut. However, he was a playmaker in college and could provide a spark for a Cowboys offense that will need it without their top playmaker.
