Carson Beck Landing Spots: 3 NFL Draft Suitors for the Miami QB Include Steelers, Rams

Miami QB Carson Beck’s draft range is wide, but fit matters. Here are three teams that could get the most out of him.

Carson Beck’s draft story is kind of weird when you look at the full arc.

At one point, he felt like the next Georgia quarterback who’d just roll into the league as a high pick. Big, calm, productive, not much more you can ask for in a top pick. Then things got shaky, he lost momentum, transferred to Miami, and for a minute it looked like he might fade out of the conversation entirely.

Instead, he flipped it. Almost won a national title, put himself back on the radar, and now he’s in that Day 2/Day 3 range where teams start talking themselves into traits again.

He’s not a sure thing, but there’s enough there to work with: size, experience, and the flashes that made scouts excited about him in the first place. In the right setup, it’s not hard to see it clicking. Here are a few spots that feel realistic.

Best NFL Draft Landing Spots for Carson Beck

Pittsburgh Steelers

This would be a solid move by the Steelers as they head into a new era. New coach, kind of a reset feel, and no clear long-term answer at quarterback. There’s always talk about bringing in a veteran, maybe even someone like Aaron Rodgers coming back, but that’s obviously not a forever plan.

Plus, the passing game wasn’t anything to write home about, only ranking 22nd in passing yards in the NFL with 3,440 in the 2025 season. Beck fits as the “sit and see what happens” guy developing in the wings. He’s got the build for that division at 6-foot-5, 233 pounds, and more importantly, he wouldn’t be rushed into anything he’s not ready for.

Let him sit behind a veteran, clean some things up, and see if there’s something more there after a year. It’s low pressure, which is probably what he needs.

Los Angeles Rams

This one just makes sense from a development standpoint.

Matthew Stafford isn’t going to play forever, and the Rams have been good about thinking a year or two ahead and being proactive. Beck wouldn’t have to touch the field early, which is ideal. With the time he gets to sit, he could get back into the version of himself where he had a PFSN CFB QB Impact score of 85.7, which was good for the fourth-best in the entire country back in 2023.

You drop him into that offense, let him learn from Stafford and Sean McVay, and just let it marinate. If it works, great; you’ve got a cheap starter down the line. If not, you didn’t spend a premium pick forcing it. It’s the kind of environment that could actually smooth out some of his inconsistencies.

Carolina Panthers

Carolina’s situation is complicated.

Bryce Young has had moments where you see it and then stretches where you’re not sure at all. It’s been up and down pretty much the whole time. That’s why bringing in someone like Beck makes sense. Not necessarily to replace him, but to add another option.

At worst, it’s competition. At best, maybe you stumble into something more than what the perceived draft slot is valued at.

The Panthers feel close enough roster-wise that they can’t afford to be stuck at quarterback after shockingly making the playoffs in 2025. Taking another swing here isn’t desperate; it’s just being realistic. And Beck, for where he’ll likely go, is a pretty reasonable bet.
