How Many Picks Do the Panthers Have in the 2025 NFL Draft?
Currently, the Panthers have 9 picks in the 2025 NFL Draft. They retained their original selections in Round 1, Round 3, Round 4, Round 5, and Round 6, and they were able to make up for the rest with various trades.
The Panthers’ original second-round pick was sent to Chicago in the trade that netted them Young. Their original seventh-round pick, meanwhile, was sent to Kansas City in exchange for wide receiver Ihmir Smith-Marsette.
Carolina received the Los Angeles Rams‘ 2025 second-round pick in a 2024 trade-up that landed the Rams defensive tackle Braden Fiske. During the NFL trade deadline, the Panthers moved WR Jonathan Mingo and their seventh-round pick to the Cowboys for a 2025 fourth-round pick.
They also received the New York Giants‘ 2025 fifth-round pick in the blockbuster trade for Brian Burns.
Finally, in Round 7, the Panthers received a seventh-round pick from the Arizona Cardinals in exchange for Robbie Anderson (also known as Robbie Chosen), and they also landed an additional seventh-rounder in a pick-swap with the San Francisco 49ers involving Zane Gonzalez.
What are the Panthers’ Biggest Needs in 2025?
Until Young is comfortable, the priority is supplementing support for him on offense. That means boosting the weapons core and the offensive line until Young is in a position where he can truly thrive.
Both position groups are well on the way. Xavier Legette is expected to be a major help, as is Diontae Johnson. But Johnson was acquired as a veteran on a contract year, and Adam Thielen is aging quickly.
Meanwhile, on the offensive line, the guard spots have been settled with Robert Hunt and Damien Lewis, but center is a major question mark — with former guard Austin Corbett currently experimenting at the spot. Also, tackle Taylor Moton will be a free agent in 2026.
The Panthers are heading in the right direction, but more long-term security can be striven for across the offensive unit. On defense, the story is similar. The additions of Jadeveon Clowney and Jordan Fuller will help, but the time scale may be limited.
In particular, the EDGE room in Carolina is very thin. Past Clowney, the only player with respectable pass-rush production is D.J. Wonnum, and his sacks aren’t always of the highest quality. That room needs more blue-chip talent and rotational utility.
At safety, Fuller and Xavier Woods are both set to be free agents in 2025. So too is inside linebacker Shaq Thompson. And while the cornerback position is in a stable spot with Jaycee Horn, Dane Jackson, and Troy Hill, more depth could be added there as well.
